The people at work think I am silly because I use Bonne Bell Lip Smackers. Are they just for children?

To this day, I am fond of Lip Smackers. I alternate between Bubblegum, Vanilla Bean and Cotton Candy. I remember growing up in the early 1970's and using my allowance every week to purchase the "Jumbo" size Lip Smackers. I feel a bit nostalgic about these lip balms

Can anyone name the "original flavors"?

What is your favorite Lip Smacker?

I recall using I think strawberry when my cousin and I were young. Maybe even blueberry I want to say..because I remember I was sniffing the darn things more than I was using them. Laughing

I don't think you're silly, if you like it and it works, don't mind what others say.

I had a chocolate lip smackers product not too long ago. I loved it. Use what you like! Tell your coworkers to shove it! Laughing

I wish I could find these. I used to love them. I loved to click the metal container. I think I enjoyed playing with them more than using them.

I don't remember metal containers? I thought they were in plastic? Are you thinking of another brand of lip balms that came in small slip tins? I can't remember the the name of the company, but I remember having a peach flavor.

I remember back in 6th grade (1977) a girl in my class having a lip gloss (roller-ball style) that she let me try it was bubblegum and so delicious, I remember wanting the same one so badly, but mother would not get it for me. It came in a clear roller-ball bottle but the outside of the bottle had red pattern on the outside. It was not Maybelline Kissing Potion, it was another brand, anyone know?

My lip smackers came in plastic containers, basically what they look like now. I don't recall the name that you maybe thinking about, but I do remember another brand that had them in the tin little containers.

They come in so many yummy flavors, they never dry my lips out and they're darn cheap! Who could possibly complain about that! My first flavor was Dr. Pepper, and now I have a strawberry mango gloss in a squeeze tube. mmmm tasty. Very Happy

When I was in middle school, used these constantly. And then...something happened... Crying or Very sad lol. However I do remember liking one particular Lip Smacker that I'm not sure of what it was (and then I was also hooked on the dr. pepper). All I remember is that it was pink and seemed to have sparkles or something. Maybe cotton candy? Any ideas?

And I agree, your not too old for them, heck, no one is! They should have a commercial of people reminiscing their past from applying some lip smackers in current day. Just a thought Laughing !

If it works for you age shouldn't be a barrier. Look at the ingredients, they can't be much different from stuff in packaging aimed at an older crowd.

KissingPines-It was Maybelline kissing potion (I am picturing that in my pocket at Jr. High parties). I loved that stuff! I still have Lip smackers and I use Bonnie Bell Lip gloss in Vanilla Swirl every day over my MAC Tanarama (I own 4 tubes of it right now as backups in every purse and drawer!

KissingPines? he he he!

Maybelline Kissing Potion actually had kissing potion written all over the outside of the bottle, the one I am thinking of had red design/pattern maybe small flowers all over the outside of the glass? I just wish I knew what company made it. Wasn't Coty or Aziza (anyone remember these brands, he he he).

You're never too old for these things Smile The Dr. Pepper lipsmacker is a personal fave and one I've seen recommended by grownup celebs and makeup artists too

I looked this up online, as I was not familiar with them. Do they have SPF? Is there any benefit to using them? Ingredients? They are certainly inexpensive, but I'm wondering if the flavor is really the best part? Thank you.

Mysty, I could have written this post! Laughing I totally remember loving the jumbo sized smackers...didn't think anyone remembered them but me! Anyway, I remember having Strawberry, Dr. Pepper, and there was even a 7up flavor, I'm pretty sure. I don't think you're EVER too old for these things...or any other supposedly "non-grownup" product you want to use!

Mary Very Happy

Hi Mary!

Oh yes, those Jumbo Size Lip Smackers were fun! I have been trying to remember some of the oldies but goodes, I did have Dr. Pepper, 7-Up, Bubblegum, Orange Crush, Grape Crush, but I also think I remember a Rum Raisin, Lemonade, maybe a Banana? I had such a collection -- I remember lining them up on my shelf. Laughing

Mysty, you're right...they did have pretty much all the soft drink flavors! Too funny you lined them up on your shelf...I had my coveted collection "on display" too! Laughing Some of my smackers even had little cords on them, so I could wear them around my neck...yes, I was (am) a total geek! Embarassed
I currently have a Dr. Pepper and strawberry smacker...but alas, they are only the tiny size. That's it! I'm writing Bonne Bell and demanding that they bring back the jumbo smackers for all us who were young 'uns in the early 70's! Wink

Mary

Mary, too funny!

I remember there being another Jumbo lip balm product that came out around the same time by another manufacturer, but again can't remember the name, ugh, I am getting old.

No, you are never too old to use lip smackers. Dr. Pepper is one that i still use. It leaves a nice color on the lips.
