I need a sunscreen with a matte finish, besides DDF, is there any other brands out there?

EDIT: Also I need a matte lipbalm with SPF...besides blistex, preferably something liquid so I can apply a thick layer without looking waxy!

I absolutely love Sofina Perfect UV for its matte finish. I have been using the tinted version "Nuance Up" for about 6 months now and it has accompanied me through the HOT and HUMID summer here and helped me stay matte all day!! Very Happy I simply ADORE it!! Cool

Apart from Sofina, Sunkiller Clearwater would be a good choice too. Razz

The La Roche Posay Dermo-Pediatrics Spf 40 SPRAY (not lotion)dries to a nice matte finish. Cellular Skin Rx's Sunaway dries to a soft finish - not quite matte. Shiseido spf 55 is a very dry finish but sometimes looks whitish on complexions so a sample would probably be best initially.

I actually find Sofina drying though... I wore moisturizers and hydrating serums underneath it, but still found that it eventually dried out my skin a bit. BUT, I loved how I could wear a whole bunch of layers underneath it, that normally would have made me look really shiny, because it kept me matte.

I will still wear this sunscreen. But maybe just keep it for summer or really humid days.

For those that by Sofina Nuance Up...do you get it from ebay?

If so...can you recommend a reliable, good seller?
I REALLY want to try this...I've been good...and resistant to buy. But my resistance is waning... Smile

I've been using Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion for awhile and I've found it to be the most matte sunscreen I've tried. It's physical, rather than checmial, so it'll leave a slight white cast, though this is not problematic for me as my skin's light enough.

Sofina is magic for me. Very Happy It gives me a perfect and flawless finish no matter how many layers I put on before it. Cool

Yes, I agree that it can be drying. But if I moisturize enough it won't be a problem for me. Razz

Hi ParisTroika, I remember skincareaddicted bought her Sofina off Ebay and you may PM her about the details of her seller. Wink

But I'm more than willing to purchase it for you if you don't want to go for the Ebay route. Very Happy

Ah I caved and purchased it through ebay.
skincareaddicted got back to me supah fast.

She recommended the same seller I had my eye on.

It was all down hill for the credit card from there!

Thanks so much for your offer, CK. I appreciate it! I figure if I get recommendations of sellers through people I trust, I *hopefully* (as I'd say in Arabic "insha'allah") won't have problems!

xoxo!

Clarins UVPlus is nice and matte. As for the lipbalm you could give Prada Shielding Balm a try (carekate raves about this one). I've used Clinique's all about lips and that's matte and good for under lipsticks as well. I've read in the fav lip balm thread a lot of people like Eucerin's Aquaphor cream, I'm assuming because that's a cream you can probably slather it on your lips without looking glossy/waxy.

I just started using the Sofina Lucent (no tint) and LOVE IT!!!

On my usual workday (unfortunately, at this time of year, I leave the house when it's dark and return home when it's dark Laughing ), I might instead use Jan Marini Antiox SPF 30, which I also like.

Help! Who's the vendor? Please do tell. Smile I use the Shiseido 55 and it is a bit white but not a biggie now that I'm a peel pro and the skin is evening out. I'd like to try the Sofino, though, because anything for a matte, non-white finish!

Scalawag -- I ordered from cosmosdoll (hong kong). I had no problem at all with the transaction -- it took about two weeks to get to me here in L.A.

I tried to post the ebay link but EDS won't let me do it.

I asked my mom if she knew one and told me to try Neutrogena healthy skin SPF 15, it went on smooth not too dry or powdery and dried semi-matte so really perfect! I just thought I would let everyone know Smile

I just tried a sample of a great DHC product. It's called White Sunscreen and it has an spf of 30. I had the sample for a long time and never used it because frankly the name of the product scared me. I kept seeing my grandma with zinc all over her face. But, I finally used it and it was wonderful. Absolutely scent free, and it really sank into my skin with zero greasiness. It dried like I had nothing on my skin. I think it would be a good product for men or for anyone with oily skin who want to use a sunscreen.

I'm using Bioderma Photoderm AKN Spray. I like it, it's matte and goes on nicely. Before that I used to use the Neutrogena spf55 with helioplex but felt they didn't give enough UVA protection.

I should try the sunkiller sunscreen. Does anyone know what the PPD rating is on sunkiller/sofina?

Any Canadian sites that sell Sofina sunscreen?
How does it compare to the Shiseido?

Ariesxtreme,
How does the texture of the AKN Spray compare to the Neutrogena spf55 helioplex? I am using the Neutrogena product but have heard great things about the AKN. I had a small sample of the AKN but not enough to get a good idea of how well my skin (dry/normal face with oily T zone) reacts to it.
Thanks for any comments!

The AKN spray is pretty light and not oily. I would say it's rather a watery texture than something that's thick. Compared to the Neutrogena it's definitely lighter and thinner. The neutrogena seems a bit too heavy for my face.

Thanks, Ariesxtreme. Where do you buy your AKN? My sample was from skincarecentral.biz, but I'm wondering if there are any retailers who carry it?

Priscilla,

That's where I got mine too Very Happy . Right now I may not continue with that though since it's mostly a chemical sunscreen. Which I'm let down by since I thought I finally got all my sunscreens in order.

I may be trying out the Shiseidos or others that are mostly physical sunscreens.

So the seller I purchased this from is AWESOME!!! I'd be happy to recommend them to anyone!
(OHMYGOSH...ME recommending ebay? What's the world coming to? Laughing)
I can't believe how fast they shipped it from HK.
I can't wait to try this (got it yesterday!).
