Hi,

I was just wondering if you could help me out. I have had a lot of these real small red bumbs on the upper arm (tricept area) for years now and i dont know what they are or how to get rid of them. They seem to get a little better in the summer but u can still see them. Can anyone tell me what it is and or how to treat it??

I'm not sure if you're familiar w/dry brushing but this may help. I had a similar problem on my upper legs and like you it responded well to air and a little bit of sun in the warmer months but dry brushing was the cure for this.
Choose a natural bristle brush(synthetic bristles can damage skin) use the brush dry on dry skin. Every day is best. This has many benefits other than skin health. Naturally moisturizing, exfoliating and detoxifying. It also moves the lymph in your body for increased immune system strength and helps your whole system detoxify.SmileSmileSmile
Gives a warm rosy glow too.

If the dry brushing doesn't work, you may want to try a cream with cortizone in it. Because your bumps get a little better in the summer, it sounds like they respond favorably to a little sun on your arms. Eczema, which I have a slight case of on my upper arms, is the same way. However, because I try to avoid the sun as much as possible (unlike the old days when I baked in tanning beds on a daily basis), I don't get that benefit anymore. I have found that Beauticontrol Corticure Cream works fairly well but (and I'll probably get lambasted by the forum for mentioning this one), the absolute cure I recently (and accidentally) discovered is La Mer Cream. It is very, very expensive (around $90 for an ounce which won't last a long time if you are going to be using it on your arms - depending on how buff your triceps are;)! But the first time I applied it to my eczema (just on a whim), I woke up the next morning with completely smooth arms. It was an overnight miracle. If you've got the money, and the dry brushing doesn't work, I would give it a whirl. Maybe you can find a sample somewhere.Smile

This sounds like tiny ingrown hairs? I get that on the back of my thighs if I'm not dilligent enough with exfoliating. Dry brushing is an excellent idea, but it's not going to help overnight. You need to do it regularily for a while to see results. Alternatively you could get yourself a body wash that has a high enough content of glycolic acid in it to exfoliate your skin (I know Peter Thomas Roth has one and I'm sure other brands do as well).

hi there - I've been using Neutrogena Skin Smoothing Body lotion for just this exact problem. I read in a magazine that it was supposed to be really good for those red bumps, which actually have their own name. It says, "Clinically proven to sweep awayL bumps on backs of arms and legs, roughness and dry patches." I have noticed and improvment, and I haven't even been using it every day. Now that summer is coming, I'm going to use it twice a day! Very Happy You should be able to get it in any drugstore, and it's not expensive, of course. It also has an SPF level of 15 since it has AHAs - that way if you put it on and then go outside wearing a short-sleeve shirt you have SPF protection on that sensitive area. Good luck!
