| I have some Shiseido product that's longer than a year, some maybe two years, could I still use it? The problem is I haven't seen any expiration dates with the skin care products. |

| I have read somewhere that they usually hold up well for 6 years. At least safe for 3 years. So worry not. |

Depends on the product. I used to keep my more expensive stuff because i didnt want to 'waste' it, but it's better on your skin than in a cupboard.
Here in the UK, they've started doing a picture with number of months on it. (maybe some kind of EU legislation who knows). Some products from the US products have it on but those that don't have had a sticker put on them instead. I was surprised to see most cosmetics stuff is 9 months. Some 12 months and some 18 months but I'd say over 75% of stuff I've seen recently is 9 months. |

| I asked Clarin counter lady once, they said it's up to 3 years. Clarins is organic product. If the product is opened, it lasts only 6 months, esp. SPF creams. |

| In order to protect the consumers, I hope that all skincare products should indicate the expire date and how long will it last after open... |

I would say that most products should be used within a year of purchase... basically because we generally have no idea how long a product has sat on the shelf before purchase.
Because of the vast differences in products and product life, which may be more difficult to define as after a certain point the product may not be bad, but the effectiveness of some, or all, of the ingredients may be less.. I would more like to see a "born on" date.
I also think that a "born on" date may be more accurate as some companies may try to manipulate expiration dates, however a product sitting on a shelf with a born on date after the actual date would be most obvious.

That's a good point. Organic Pharmacy has batch dates, I always have a good root through to get the latest 
Other than that I try and buy from places with a fast turnover. Or get to know the SAs so I can ask for stuff from the latest shipment and they'll give it to me.
I used to buy my PTR products from Ebay US (they are so pricey here in the UK at Space NK) but now I buy them all from EDS. There's no point saving a few £s if the product is not as effective, not that it matters with the discounts etc. |

| wow 6 years?? I usually use skincare within 2 years. Makeup wise, especially eyeshadows, hmmmm maybe forever? lol |
