I was browing sephora and came cross Juvena Energy Mask. it was priced 17.50USD. I was shocked, so I placed one in the shooping cart and then checked out at Canadian checkout. and guess what, it says 78Cnd. I was speechless.
why there is such a big difference in pricing btw US and Canada? I know there are differences btw customs, but this is too much!! |

Same thing happened to me before. An eyeshadow on sale was $5 U.S and $20 CDN. I guess the point is that company doesn't want to offer discount to Canadian market. |

That's happened to me before, too -- a US sale price that translated to astronomical Canadian dollars. I called the 800 number to find out why. Turned out it was an error, and "they'd get someone to correct it right away". About a week later it was fixed -- but by then, my lemming had wandered off somewhere else. |

I can relate! I ordered the Sephora traincase which was $90 US I believe and when I got the invoice they had charged me (I think it was about) $130!!! That wasn't including duty, GST, etc. It was WAAAAAY more than the normal exchange rate. But I love my case so I'm not TOO mad at them. |

Not everything is so great in the States. It'd be cheaper for someone else to buy the products for you and mail them. So if you want something....feel free to ask me! |

Hah. Try living in the UK. The prices are even 50% more for the 20 mile difference across the channel from France to the UK. And we have a 'common market'..yeah right. |

The juvena products (what's left at Sephora) are on sale ONLY for U.S. customers. They actually used to be cheaper at Sephora than EDS-half price if I remember. What you're getting is the full retail price in cdn$$
As for the rest of the stuff, if a product is also sold in Canada-like frederic Fekkai-the price in CDN won't be the exchange-it'll the price set in cdn $$-the price it's sold in Sephora canada. So, a $25. fekkai shampoo will cost $35. cdn. If I order it from Saks, it'll be charged just the exhange-about $27. cdn. That's why I play around & check out while I'm shopping-just to see what I'm going to be charged. Sometimes, it's not worth it. |

I find cdn prices are more expensive than american prices in general. I remember a couple years ago, I was looking for a tint moistrizer and stumbled on Stila when I was browsing sephora. it was priced less than 30 US$$, but I remembered I paid around 50cdn$$ at holts. I gasped at the price difference. |

Yes, for a while I was buying Stila from Sephora instead of my friendly neighborhood Holts-Sephora was charging only the exchange. My brush cost $20 less at sephora in cdn. Then they caught on & the prices now are the same as at Holts. |

I think the reason the prices are such a difference is that the US dollar used to be worth so much more then the Canadian dollar (in 1995 it was $1.50CDN for $1US). Now they are quite close($1.12CDN to $1US) and they havent adjusted the price difference in products. Look at the prices of magazines, in the US an Adventure mag is like $4.95 and in Canada it is $6.95. The exchange is only 10cents on the dollar so it should $5.50, not $2 more! |
