There is so much MMU out there on the market now that I wanted to find out what you all are using. I use ID because I love the illumination it gives to the skin but I think it is pricer than other MMUs. What do you all think?
BTW, I just bought ID's candle light collection that comes w/ 3 soft focus colors in warmth, true, and glee and has the softtest/silkiest brush in the kit. OMG!!! This stuff made me look like I was all aglow! I love theire regular foundations and multi-tasking minerlas and just when I thought it could not get any better . . . Bamn! This stuff is the best. For all those out there who use ID, you have got to get their new soft focus face colors. I have not tried the soft focus eye colors yet but will post when I do. I absolutely belive that ID has the best product and thier minerlas are so creamy and natural looking. I gave up Mac a year asgo and have been using ID since, slowly adding to my collection here and there. Now, I have a really nice collection of brushes, eye shadows, glimmers, brow set, blush set, complexion boosters, lip gloss, night time minerlas, and now this wonderful soft focus set. My only complaint about the cadle light edition is that the size of the colors are rather small and you can not buy them in full size yet. I can't wait till they come out in the larger size. This stuff made my face have the overall affect of having a glow but the color is so soft, my face looked air brushed and antique, like I just stepped out of a 1940's movie set. i knowI sound like a commercial but I have to recc this stuff to all of oyu who love ID. You will again be hooked on this newest bare boost!
What do you all think? Will you go out and get it or what? |

I have also been using bare minerals for a while and it was great but it always made a mess of my sink so I switched to Jane Iredale and I love the compact but its more $ and one compact only lasted 1.5 months as opposed to my id which lasted 3 months!
I am also trying to find a different makeup, possibly similar to ID but in a compact and a good price!
Any ideas? |

bare minerals was too shiny and I didn't like how it has bismuth in it.
I love Alima! |

Nope, it's loose powders, as far as I can tell. Personally, I like Everyday Minerals. Inexpensive and there's a wide variety of "finishes", unlike Alima. |

No Alima's not in a compact But it's not as messy or inconvenient as you would think. I have this little shallow glass bowl on my counter that is filled with speckles of Alima at night so in the morning I don't need to pour any out. I can just swirl and go. For travelling, I fill one of those ingenious brushes that you can fill with powder on one end so that there will always be a little powder on the brush and I just carry that around Alima is amazing, try it! |

My favorite brand, by far, is Alima. It is the only MMU I have found so far that doesn't clog my pores. They have a wide variety of colors to choose from, excellent customer service, and generous samples they send out with your order (They even sent me samples with the Samples I originally ordered!). There is a thread going over in the Product Review board I started that has a more comprehensive review, and some great additional info from other members. |

the brush can be bought from essential beauty supplies (google search) but alot of the mineral makeup sites sell this now. Guess it is an easy way to earn money.
I have tried only everydayminerals. It is alright for me, though some people like and some don't. They have a sample kit free of charge, so definitely worth a try. |

I tried Alima samples and they were very generous and its a good product but it doesn't have SPF as far as I am aware. I've also tried BI but will stick with my Jane Iredale compact Mineral make up. Its a bit more $ but worth the extra protection and ease of the compact - no mess and easy to carry for evenings. I've also started applying with a sponge which gives thicker coverage!
Jane Iredale - good products! |

Does anyone have a problem with the MMU looking "cakey" when it's put on? I tried it a few months ago, after my esthetician recommended it. I bought the Jane Iredale sample, along with the brush to apply it, but it just looked caked on, and not natural at all. Has anyone else had this problem? |

There are a few possibilities for cakeyness:
1. you applied too much - try buffing some off with a flocked sponge.
2. try spritzing with a facial spritzer afterwards, let it sink in and see what you think then. Sometimes it may appear cakey in the beginning before it blends with your natural face oils.
3. the MMU you're using isn't suitable for you, try another brand. This happened to me with EM - it just looked dry and cakey on me. Now I've switched to Alima and it looks a lot more natural even if I'm doing layers. |

i had the cakey problem today when i was doing my makeup for work.. it looked gross and cakey on so i washed my face remoisturized and tried it again.
2nd time using a lot less probably like half of what i used the first time. looked a lot better, but still looked a little dry.. but usually it melts into my face within an hour and it looks perfect!
so try using a lot less than you think you need and wait for it to melt into you face.. like run around up and down stairs or something heh |

I wonder if we could make our own pressed powder? I know you can make pressed pigments by adding alcohol to pigments and then pressing it.
It would make life so much easier.
Want to try UGloGirl after scalawaggirl's rave. |

I'm using BE right now and love the way my skin looks. However, I'm concerned about the Mica ingredient used in it. I've read that it may clog pores (last thing I need!). Does anyone know about this ingredient? |

Lovely,
I'm glad you are inspired to purchase! Do me a favor and post your review of the cadleight collection for me please. I'd love to know how it worked for you and what you think of that soft focus warmth and soft focus true! It should make you fir perfectly with your name! |
