So I'm sick of always wearing my thick, wavy, really long hair up in a pony tail all the time.
Does anyone have a styling product that tames their otherwise wild long hair???
I'm getting it cut soon, but I'm keeping it long (like to wear my bra strap falls on my back, right now, it's about 4 inches past that).
Ideas? I've tried a ton of products, and I always end up with my hair up by the end of the day because of static or otherwise unruliness...
TIA!

Use FRIZZ EASE STEP 4 STRAIGHTENING POTION its great just spray on towel dry hair and I have straight thick hair. If your hair is very long lift up strands and spray between just leave on and dry. |

Are you just trying tame the flyaways? Not sure exactly what you're asking. Do you style it and then just end up putting it in a ponytail?
I have really long thick wavy hair too. Probably about as long as yours is currently, maybe an inch or two shorter. I have to put products in my hair and wear it naturally wavy/curly or straighten it. If wearing it natural usually put in a leave in cream, some gel and like a curl enhancing styling cream.
If straightening, leave in again and then straightening cream.
This is what usually keeps my hair tame. If i just wash and go, it looks a tad messy.
If you're just looking to tame the flyaways, try some creams that are used on dry hair. Try a leave in first too when hair is wet. Air dry or dry hair however you normall do and even a spray mist that adds shine usually helps also. |

If you haven't already, you might want to check out this thread from carekate about a Paves product:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=7256&highlight=paves
Personally, I think this product is magic. I have very thick, wavy, course hair that is frequently color-processed. I've tried tons of shine/frizz control products, from high-end to drugstore brands. I've had so many compliments on how healthy-looking my hair is since I've been using the Paves product. Trust me, my hair does NOT look healthy without it, but the product really does make so much difference in appearance that people are asking me what I'm doing. |

It's hard to explain...fly-a-ways, yes...it gets frizzy and messy looking. I'm hoping a cut will fix it, or at least help it.
I want my hair to stay soft, non-static-y, and not look like a rat's nest by the end of the day.
le sigh. |

My hair is not as long as yours, ParisTroika, but it is thick and wavy. It reaches about my collar bone-- that's about as long as I can stand to have it because it gets so heavy and any longer washing and styling becomes a day's event. But I really like the Neutrogena Triple Moisture line. It imparts a ton of moisture to hair, really keeps the ends smooth (I have used the daily condish, the deep condish, and the silk-touch leave-in cream which is a dead ringer for Fekkai Glossing Cream). Also, if you straighten your hair, a good product is Garnier SMoothing Milk. I've used this for years and my stylist always thinks I'm using something three times as expensive. It's a creme you put on hair when it's damp, then blow dry. I finish my hair with a cold shot (closes the cuticle) and the silk-touch leave in cream.
I'd just like to say good haircare doesn't have to cost and arm and a leg! |

Would you mind terribly posting the ingredients to the Triple Moisture conditioner and the leave-in cream for me? I'm curious about something.... |

Looks like arisextreme beat me to it. I posted inthe Product forum about the leave-in cream. I like that the product really condition but don't build up on my hair which is very porous and sucks up everything I put on it. The only thing in theline I don't like is the shampoo. I prefer a more natural, sulfate free shamp, something that really cleans myhair so that the moisture can get in. |

hi paris,
when you get a haircut, ask them to thin it out a bit. my hair is thick and is straight but there's just too much of it usually. i find that if i use nothing, my hair sounds like yours--static-y and kinda messy (but not really) by the end of the day. a really surprising product that worked for me is Garnier Fructis smoothing milk. I just a rub a small amount from scalp to bottom of hair and my hair stays in place all day. it's awesome for around $3.
edit--didn't realize aries already suggested the smoothing milk, it really is awesome, and leaves hair soft. |

Well...ended up with a haircut (cut of 10+ inches!!!!)
and now it's just below my shoulders.
I've searched all over town for Paves Professional to no avail...so I'm prolly gonna give the Garnier Smoothing milk a whirl.
I could order it (Paves) online but considering it's so inexpensive, shipping ends up being just as much as the product itself and, well, I hate it when they do that! But if I get desparate, I might just have to.
Thanks for all the suggestions!!! |

Paris Troika, I too have been looking for Paves shine serum. The shampoo and conditioner can been found at Walgreens but they don't carry the rest of the line. Carekate stated that Ulta stores carry the shine serum but unfortunately the store by me doesn't carry the line at all. But the online store does have it, so Im going to order it there and pay the s/h. Good hunting. |

My Ulta doesn't have it...neither do the Walgreens in town. Coulda sworn I saw it once at Walgreens, but I was told when I went there last week they don't carry it. Maybe I was in CVS? I don't know.
Sigh.
How much will your shipping from Ulta be???
xoxo! |

One other thing, at Ulta they keep the Paves product line on the shelf with the "drugstore" hair care products, and not in the section where they stock the salon-brand hair care products. |

I am one very happy girl after I discovered there's an Ulta (kinda sorta) near me (ok, so its 30 miles away, but everyone drives in LA, so no biggie)! I took myself on a little excursion there Friday night after work and got a couple CareKate recommended products, including the Paves shines serum. Like the dweeb that I am, I forgot about it when I washed my hair on Saturday A.M., so am looking forward to trying it this morning.
Am considering trying his shampoo and conditioner, but am concerned that they will make my fine hair act lifeless. Has anyone used his shampoo and conditioner? How would you rate them? Right now I'm using Pureology Volumizing shampoo and conditioner, which I love. |

Yeah I figured...I paced up and down the drug store brands and even asked a store person...she wasn't sure what I was talking about.
le sigh. |

Since I'm still hobbling around after my foot surgery I looked alittle then I asked and they said they don't carry it there and suggested the Woodlands store north of Houston. I made it over to the drugstore haircare sect to look for myself and didn't see it. Bought some new nail polish to console myself and left.
S/h and tax made the the whole purchase 12.00 plus alittle, I forget, but it's double the cost of the product itself. So I guess when I run out I'll call around to the the Ulta stores before I go. |

I think that Walgreens.com sells the serum. |

I reall like the Paves serum and like the way it smells. The shampoo which I tried months back before I went to not using shampoo altogether was just okay for me. The conditioner is decent too for the price.
As far as the Garnier smoothing milk, that one really doesn't do much for me personally. I prefer the sleek and shine leave in from that line. |

Hi Nomorneckpain, which online stores have it? I couldn't find it on drugstore.com. TIA. |
Ulta online store has it: http://www.ulta.com/control/product/~product_id=2113417
as does Walgreens.com (but actual Walgreens drugstores only have the Paves shampoo and conditioner!): http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100709&navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=prod732063
I'm a huge fan of the Paves shampoo but wasn't thrilled with the conditioning milk or conditioning cream (but I wasn't thrilled with the Pureology conditioners either, so don't mind me!).... |
