Is there anyone with asian skin totally satisfied with this kind of treatment ? I would like to get an understanding given the nature of this skin type and hair type.
I'm a londoner who has just poorly experienced this form of treatment- I've started this thread alongside my personal experience addressed on the subject - 'IPL Hair Removal -RISKS' |

I think IPL hair removal works best on fair skin PLUS dark hair.
So if you are a pretty fair asian with moderately dark hair...it shouldn't be a problem. Even if your skintone's slightly darker, the only problem'd probably be needing more courses done. I think those that are unsuitable for IPL are generally ones with fairly dark skin and dark hair.. |

It should work fine if you get the right service. The technology is changing, so it's no longer an absolute that darker skinned people can't see good results. |

IPL is not really effective for hair removal. It definitely slows the growth and does appear to be working but once you stop getting the treatments it will grow back. Please don't waste your $ on this.
From my experience and research, if you skin is fair and hair is dark an alexandrite laser would be best. Where ever you choose to go ask what type of laser they use and research it first to make sure its appropriate for your skin type. |

I am Asian with fair skin and dark hair. I am hairy and especially my underarm area. The hair were very course due to my rigorous plucking with the brow tweezer. I started plucking since I was 14. I had done it for the past 25yrs. It had caused damage to my skin. The skin became bumpy and dark color.
So far,I've had already 8 ipl treatments on my armpits. The last 8th course was done last month. I think this be my final treatment as my hair has already become
very fine like baby hair and the amount was only 10% or 15% of the original. My husband has told me to live with the 'leftover'because it was not noticeable but I just want to 'unroot' them. Also, the good thing is my armpit skin has also become few shade lighter after several treatments and the texture also become smoother. |
