OK...I'm day 7 on the OBagi NuDerm system and and ready to literally crawl out of my skin!! I guess I need encouragement to get through this or encouragement to quit, or something!! My skin is on fire! I'm not sure why I'm doing this to myself, but I want nice skin and my plastic surgeon told me this was the way to go!! Can someone please tell me this discomfort(oh god its worse then discomfort) WILL go away?? And that it will be soon???? |

Hi Katie,
I used Obagi and can tell u that it will get better. It will take another couple weeks at least so hang in there. It is worth it and I think u will be happy with the results. For me Obagi truly changed my life and made my skin so much healthier looking.

Honestly it will get worse before it gets better. If the pain is really that severe I suggest you back off and maybe use smaller amounts. It really shouldn't be painful. You should really only feel a burning sensation as well as maybe some itching.

I was thinking of using the tolereen or active but didn't want to go backwards in this process or stifle the effects of all the steps in anyway since I want to get it over with! Do you know if I use those if it will lessen the effects of the other steps? |

I am not sure what tolereen or clear is but would assume they aggravate the skin further. I had great results just using the blender with tretinoin , exfoderm forte , cleanser and toner. Maybe drop the clear and tolereen for a day or two. I think the clear is for pigmentation issues?

katie121,
Hang in there. I've been using Obagi for 5 weeks and peeling non stop and still have minor burn and rosy skin, but no pain, no gain. I can definitely tell my skin is looking better. |

Thanks...its now been about 6 weeks for me, and I'm amazed at my skin! I cant believe the difference. I was thinking I was going to have to have some kind of injectibles or something to take away some of the wrinkles and damaged skin...but I think I'm going to save it for a few years down the line. This product truly is amazing...harsh...but the results are way worth all the pain. |

Hi, I have always had a doubt about the blender. Is this product only to be used if you are using tretinion? Does it have any function if one uses it by itself? I know that it contains a bit of hydroquinone. But if i use it by itself at night, will it do anything??
thanks. |

Yes, that is true. The first 2 weeks, you will experienced kinda drying of your skin, your skin feels soooooooooo "old" with all the wrinkles showing up... after the first 2 weeks, you will see some results..,.. Give yourself at least 3 months or so, to get good results. don't back out now... Cheers

Sherri is right. You need to give yourself some time for the skin to "heal" itself. Can not do overnight, I'm afraid... Cheers.

I've also wanted to try Obagi for ages, how does everyone deal with makeup/going out of the house etc? just go without? do you think the peeling is enough that makeup just wouldn't work? |

I'm on my second week of Obagi and I am not experiencing the peeling that everyone is talking about. My skin is a tad dry..but that is it...I think it may be because I am using a mild tetinoin (like retin-a) .25. My skin is looking great though...I do have a prescription for .5 retin-a, I may try it next week.

loumomofthree - I am nearing the end of my 1st week and I don't have peeling yet either. Have you used Retin A before? I ask because I have and maybe that is why we are not having the peeling. I also have heard it is really not peeling that happens but rather the skin flakes. One other thing, a woman on another skin board said that not everyone has peeling but that doesn't mean it is not working. We will see! |

yaling - Retin A is Tretinoin. Obagi is now selling their own Retin A, not sure if it is available on EDS or not. Blender is Hydroquinone 4%. Hope this helps. |
