Yes, indeed, an American Eskie!
He's a purebred Alaskan (as opposed to Siberian, which is smaller) Husky. He was bred to be the alpha in an iditarod team, but all he pulls around is ME!!! |

The strongest dog I ever met was a Malamute. Pound for pound those northern bred dogs are incredibly strong.
The profile looks husky but the play-bow, head and tailset looks malamute. I'd heard about Alaskan huskies but have never seen one.
Did I mention we show our mastiffs? So I get really into dogs. You should come post those photos on our dog fun and nutrition board,www.ourdogsonline.com. |

Katee, how old is the Alaskan husky? Does he do ok in the summer? Do you keep him indoors? Is he good with cats and kids (and husbands)? I am drooling all over my keyboard now... |

The husky is 10. He's a complete sweetheart with kids and people. And, ohhhhhh yesssss, he just adores cats and birds FOR BREAKFAST AND LUNCH !!! Laughing, but not kidding. When I first got him he ATE my parakeet. He was just a puppy at the time - his manners have improved
The summers here in Maryland are quite hot and humid and he definitely spends more time inside when the heat gets oppressive, but he really does prefer the outdoors. We fill a kiddie pool with water for him and between that and the cooling hole he digs every year, he's a pretty happy camper.
The ONLY problem with the breed is that they LOVE to run. And, when they do run, they go FAR. Our property is fenced in, but we had to fortify the base of the fence, or he'd dig under it and turn up in some of the oddest places. He once made it all the way into downtown Baltimore, walked into Mercy Hospital, and took the elevator to the fifth floor!!! He has his name and phone number EVERYWHERE for just this reason, but I almost fainted when one of the nurses was kind enough to call me. I have a million stories like that - he's quite a character. But, as long as you don't mind keeping your dog on a leash when you take him out, which is probably wise anyway when said dog looks like a WOLF, they are a delightful breed.
The Eskie is a complete terrorist. We have to protect the Husky - he hasn't quite figured out that he has the size advantage yet (by a couple of orders of magnitude actually). My very first dog was an Eskie and I fell in love with the breed. They're so smart it can be downright scarey sometimes...
The two of them are quite a pair - very funny and very sweet together really. I honestly don't think I could love them more. |

I notice that quite a bit. Our friend's Westie is the Queen. She will literally corner the mastiffs and not let them move. Nui is ALWAYS intimated by other dogs and tries to 'hide' behind me if (say) a chihuahua starts barking at him.

That's how I feel about my babies. Okay, couldn't resist - this is a photo from last year.

Abejita - I *love* giant schauzers!!! I actually see a couple of salt/pepper giants around here. There were over a dozen giant schnauzers in the ring near us at last weekend's dog show. |

Abejita - Have you figured out the image button?
Hit the Img button. Then paste your weblink.
It should look like this (using parenthesis instead of brackets)

If you hit preview you should see the photo in the message.[/img] |

abejita: You have to post the link of your IMAGE and not the link of the site that HAS your image. The link of your image always ends in ".jpg" or ".gif". You have obviously uploaded your picture already, now you just have to find the link - sometimes you can right click on your uploaded picture for "properties" or something like that to find the link. HTH
katee: I LOVE that american eskie - His fur is SOOOOO gorgeous!!! I LOVE those type of dogs, same with your husky. Very very cute |

I figured it out. I don't think that you can post the pictures with shutterfly. I uploaded this pic to photobucket and it worked like a charm.

well now I have got a hang of adding photos (sorry dont know how to reduce the size on photo bucket) I could not show you my little babies
This is my first one. Hes called Monty. Apparently before I moved into my house somebody in the street moved (only to just up the road might I add) and he wouldnt stay at his new home and kept returning to his old area. I dont know how people can do this to their animals. As far as im concerned they didnt care about him or else they would of made sure he got used to his new home. Anyway I ended up taking him in. He was so full of worms and not looked after at all but now hes a right loving and contented little fella. Im not sure whats happened to him in the past - one half of an ear is missing and he only has half a tail. He is so loving and just purrs and purrs.

and heres my other little fella.
His name is Sonny. He just turned up at my house one day and when I let him in I nearly died of shock horror. I have never seen an animal so thin. I kept him for a day or too but was so worried about his health that I spoke with the RSPCA. Anyway they came to see him and said he was very poorly so they took him. He spent about 9 weeks with them. I rang them 2/3/4/ times a week to see how he was doing. They didnt think he would survive at first. Then he picked up and eventually they said I could adopt him which i did on 23 May 06. hes an old chap. They reckon he is about 14/15/16 years old. Since ive bought him home hes been diagnosed with an over active thyroid. Its been an expsensive time with blood tests every 4 weeks and medication but he is like a different animal. We are still trying to get his thyroid levels stable so he is having blood test 6-8 weeks now.
Here he is. The first pic is the day I bought him home from the RSPCA. Believe me when I picked him up I could see he had put weight on so you can imagine what the poor little thing looked like the first time he turned up at my house
And this is him now. Ive sent pics to the RSPCA and they can not believe he is the same cat. I have also taken him to see them the other week and they were completely amazed at the transformation in him. Iam so proud of him. He knows what I have done for him and he gives me so much love back
