it kills me but i think i have to give up JM eyelash serum. it's worked wonders but my eyes have been out of focus and irritated since i began using it. i use just a tiny tiny amount, and only 2x a week. but still i wake up with dry eyes and blurry vision that last all day. i try washing with eyewash but it doesn't help. i'm afraid it's doing something to my eyeballs! (i've had lasik, could that be a factor?)
anyway, is there sometihng out there for sensitive eyes that might allow me to keep these lovely lashes?! thanks! |

I think a combination of Lucia Lash Essence, MSM supplements and pure, cold-pressed castor oil works pretty well. I think a lot of people had success with Lucia + Ardell too, but the Ardell's main lash-growing ingredient, IIRC, is castor oil |

copychick--the same thing happened to me last week. my eyes were terrible, they irritated me all day and i was using eye drops like crazy. i finally stopped for a day and when i restarted, i applied a very small amount on the top lashline only and went straight to bed. i now apply top and bottom with little irritation. i think the main thing i was doing differently was that right i applied the serum at night, i stayed awake and the serum irritated my eyes then. but now that i apply and go straight to bed, my eyes are fine.
i haven't had lasik, but i don't see why it would irritate your eyes if you have had the procedure. HTH |

I've had Lasik and JM doesn't irritate my eyes. I would think that as long as your corneal flaps have healed you would be fine, but thats probably something you should ask your Doc. I had my Lasik 3 years ago. |

You should look for "cold-pressed", but that shouldn't be hard to find at the health food store. HTH |

I use Ecrinal lash serum. I would be careful not to apply too close to the lash line so it does not seep into eyes.
Castor oil is a main ingredient in most serums. You can buy separately and try it on its own. I would use a disposable mascara brush. |

thanks guys. my lasik was years ago too, i just thought maybe lasered eyes are more sensitive.
i also learned to apply the serum and go straight to bed and shut my eyes, and that helped a little, but still almost instantaneously my eyes/lids start to feel irritation and in the morning when i open them it's like a weird film is on them that won't wash off and they stay irritated all day. from just the tinniest dab of serum! i too have to use eyedrops constantly cuz hey are crazy dry from it. i guess i will try the castor oil, maybe still slip in the JM once a week or something ....and pray!
if nothing else i can be the guinea pig to see how long it takes for my lashes to turn back into pumpkins. |

Hi all
What is a good Lash growth product that I could try? The cost of JM products are way out of my league.
I'm Asian (Chinese) with short sparse lashes and would like to use something that would make my lashes more lush and long. I had tried something called Max Growth but my lashes didn't grow a millimeter in the 2 weeks that I was using it - twice daily on clean lashes.
I'd love to have (naturally) long lashes by Christmas I hope. Help please |

copychick--i think your plan to lay off the JM is a good idea for now. last week my eyes were killing me but this week, after a few days rest, irritation is gone.
ashanti--try ardell. it's like $3. do a search and put in ardell lash and plenty of threads should appear. |

JM is Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash serum and it costs $160.00 USD per tube. It is wildly popular because it actually works to grow long lashes for the marjority of the ladies that use it, although a number of people have reported blurred vision and eye irritation. It is so popular, in fact, that there is none to be had right now - even the manufacturer has no stock! Lately it has been sold on eBay and other websites for as much as $200.00 per tube (sellers are guilty of major price gouging). Almost all places that sell it have it on backorder right now, and even Jan Marini's website says they are not expecting to have more available for up to 90 days.
Does that help? |

Thanks skincareaddicted. I'll look up Ardell and Lucia.
Wish I could afford JM since it appears to work wonders but for me with an already not great eyesight (wear glasses for both long sightedness and for reading and with astigmatism too), I think it'd be too risky to try JM especially with the blurred vision and eye irritation it's purported to cause.
And you're right Mermaid Girl - it's almost criminal the way, the prices on ebay have increased astromically. But I guess it's expected when the demand is greater than the supply can provide.
Any of you here have had good use with the Lucia or Ardell lash growth formulas? |

for anyone who has used ardell and JM, if i was having too much irritation from JM, would there be a reason to think the ardell might be different, is it gentler? |

I've used both. I found JM irritating but the Ardell was not. |

I use Ardell but I noticed that when I put it on in the evening before going to bed I got the same symptoms you did.
I've tried just using it in the morning and skipping the evening application and that's worked fine. I'd suggest trying just a morning application of JM and seeing if that keeps the good effects and stops the bad stuff. |
