Of late I’ve been gravitating toward lip stains/tints and sheer lip balms, and pretty much wearing the more gooey glosses only when hubby is nowhere to be found (he’s not a fan of the “sticky gloss kiss”). My HG tinted balm is CareKate’s “Dr. Holland’s Lush Lips”, followed closely by the Prada balms…so I’m pretty much set there. But now I find myself wondering if there is a new “best of the best” long-lasting lip tint or stain that everyone is in love with? I have the Vincent Longo tints (and do really like them), as well as some stuff I bought on Ebay that is supposed to be like BeneTint which works pretty well. I read Violetanne’s great review of the Urban Decay “Lip Envy” stain…so I’m intrigued by that one!
So…I’d love to hear what everyone’s current favorite lip stain or tint is! CareKate, where are you??

I´m anxiously awaiting Carries lip balm! In the mean time, I´ve been using Mama Cocos Red Hibiscus Rouge tinted lipbalm. |

You will love Carrie's balm! Aside from how it looks and feels, I absolutely adore the scent and taste of it!
Is this the balm you're talking about?

Love the packaging!

Yep, that´s the one! I love the colour, but the scent I´m not that crazy about (I´m not a big fan of coconut oil). But it´s been a staple for about a year now, while I think Carries concoction is going to take its place. |

Hi quisme615!
The first balm I got didn't have the name of the color on it, but I'd describe it as a nice, rosy color...good for every day. The latest one I got was "Honey Cherry", which was a deeper reddish-cherry shade...but still goes on sheer and is really lovely! What colors are you using?

I love Vincent Longo's lip and cheek stains. I wear Cupid's Breath almost daily. It's a great reddish-brown so I have something when everything wears off.
I'm also loving my Prada, 1,3 and 5. |

Hi Rjez!
I have the Cupid's Breath, too! I also have Liquid Kiss (red) and Baby Boo (very bright pink, so I don't wear that as often). I like the Prada #5 as well. At first I thought it would be too brown for me, but it really is a pretty color!

Hiyah Mary H,
I just wanted to say thank you for the great review for Carekate's silk dust powder (which I bought and totally love). I wanted to also purchase the lip balm (because of your review) but Carekate was nice to send me a sample, to let me decide if I would like it. It didn't have a name but probably the same that you had received before. The color is wine/burgundy like but when applied to the lips, it's rosey.
The lip balm stays on pretty darn good too.
Honey Cherry. Sounds yummy. I wonder what else she has. |

You are very welcome for the review! I have been so happy with everything I've gotten from CareKate, it has been my pleasure to open my big mouth and tell everyone about her products!
I'm definitely going to try some other colors of the Lush Lips balms. And you're right...they do stay on well!

Mary H,
I have a question about the colors, did you describe the color you wanted or you just ask her to send any color? I PM'd her but I know she doesn't have access to a comp easily, so I wanted to ask you, if you don't mind.
I'm throwing away all the other lip balm away because they made my lips dry. |

Hi Mary - okay, I guess my lips are lame. I also have Liquid Kiss but it looks bright PINK on me. NOT red at all! I've been thinking of testing this for my cheeks.
Seriously, when I use this my lips are a bright pink like I've been eating strawberry candy. |

Actually, both the rosy-pink color with no name and the Honey Cherry were samples that CareKate was kind enough to let me try so I could offer her some feedback (of course, all raves!). Knowing her, I'm sure she could make up any color you describe for her...but she may at this point actually have a list of "established" colors, I just don't know what they all are! Hmmm...now you've got me thinking I need to find out!

I figured I'd better chime in and say I still love my Lip Envy! Sometimes I'm amazed at how long it stays. I'll take my makeup off at midnight (I'm a night owl ) and some pink will come off my lips. |

I've recently been using L'occitane shea butter with colour tint - wonderful softeneing moituriser for the cold days of approaching winter and a healthy glow of colour which most people think is natural. |

I've been using The Balm Stainiac. It stays on for a few hours and doesn't dry out my lips, but I don't like the color on me (like a cherry popsicle). I'd like one that is a little more natural. Does Carekate sell her products to anyone? How long does her lip stain last? How long do the Prada stains last? |

Rjez...you are funny! I don't think you have "lame lips" (lol!)...I think the color just shows up differently on everyone. I just ran and tried on my Liquid Kiss again to see if I was crazy...but no, my lips look red when I use it! Not a super bright red, but definitely not pink. So, we probably just have different natural lip colors, which makes the shade come out difffent on each of us...

Hi noleRN!
CareKate does sell her products...just PM her and she can give you the heads up on pricing, etc.! The product I got from her (Lush Lips) was really a balm rather than a stain. It stays on nicely, but I wouldn't call it a stain like the one you're using. Same with Prada...it's more of a moisturizing, tinted lip balm than a stain (it also has good staying power, plus SPF if you need it).
Hope that helps some!

Thanks, Jools and Violetanne...both of those products sound very tempting! The Lip Envy really sounds like it's got some major staying power if it's still on your lips at midnight!!

I don't really have a new recommendation for you because Prada no 5 is my favorite tinted balm, but the 'sticky gloss kiss' made me laugh.
My BC doesn't like sticky either, his name is Randy and when I wear sticky gloss he calls it 'Randy Repellent' |

Thanks Mary! I am really looking for something that has more staying power. I wear a mask at work, so anything I put on my lips just comes right off and I have to reapply all day. |

Has anyone ever tried the Bobbi Brown lipstains? I haven't, but I was wondering what everyone thought of these. I'm going to check MUA and see what they say there. I love lipstain too, and I'd love to find one that lasts a little longer than the smashbox, which is what I've been using. |

Hi Tosca!
I don't know much about Bobbi Brown products, but I'd sure love to hear whatever you find out about her lipstains! Thanks for checking MUA...looking forward to hearing your report!

Okay, here's my report: The Bobbi Brown got okay reviews on MUA. The main complaint seems to be that the colors are a little muddy and dull. Some people mentioned dryness, but then others said they didn't think it was.
Best rating went to Vincent Longo, followed by Mac. The Mac rating was actually just as good as the Vincent Longo, but only six people had rated it.
I think I'm going to have to try the VL.
Thanks for bringing this up, Mary. I've been meaning to check around a little more on lip stains, and you reminded me. Now to decide on a color... |
