This is listed as an ingredient in Astara's new Blue Flame Oil-Free Moisturizer. (Has anyone tried this product? It sounds great!) Does anyone know what this ingredient is, and what it's supposed to do? |

They are supposed to block free radical damage.
Spin traps
Free radical spin traps are species that react with reactive free radicals to produce fairly stable, unreactive free radicals, thus blocking the free radicals from damaging cellular components.
* DMPO (5,5-Dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide)
* DEPMPO (5-Diethoxyphosphoryl-5-methyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide)
* TEMPONE-H (1-Hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-oxo-piperidine)
I've never used anything with spin traps so hopefully someone else will come along that can tell you if they give you good visible results. |

Just off the top of my head...if you've used PSF's Retinol Cream it has spin trap. |
