I was wondering if anyone has ever had hair removal done using threading? I have heard it's a lot less painful than waxing & is supposed to give longer lasting results??
Any opinions?
TIA |

Hi Safire,
I've had it done. It's less painful than waxing. It's amazing how they do it. The feeling that I got was a slight burning feel but nothing major compared to waxing. It depends on how fast your hair will grow. The girl that did mine said to come back in 1 week but the next day it's growing. |

qisme615, that's amazing that your eyebrows grew in so quickly! Sounds to me like she just snapped the hair off at the skin's surface vs. actually pulling them out by the root. I'd heard that threading worked as well or better than waxing because it kept one's eyebrows regrowth-free for a long time. Maybe you should seek a new salon for threading? |

MermaidGirl,
I've gone to many places for waxing and threading, the same results in that my hair grows back the next day. So I've given up on it and just pluck my eyebrows every morning, it's a pain. My co-worker had laser hair removal for her lips and legs, I'm thinking about doing that. |

Wow you must have the fastest growing hair on the planet! I'm impressed. I wish mine grew that fast, but I can see what you mean about it being a PITA if you have to tweeze every morning. I complain about having to clean up once a week! Does the hair on your head grow fast, too? |

Yes. My hair grows fast too. I have to shave my legs everyday otherwise you can see it growing out. I'm asian and people always ask me, doesn't asians usually have fine hair and so forth. My mom has fine hair and it grows out slow. She always says, c'mon give me half of your hair. I'm not complaining at all but I've gotten use to my daily routine. hehe |

Wow! That's amazing! Lucky you! Really if you're just tweezing a small area like your brows and shaving your legs everyday, that's really not too terribly much upkeep if the trade-off is having hair on your head that grows like a weed! I thought my hair grew pretty fast - its nothing like yours.
Laser hair removal might be a good option for you. Let us know if you do it and what your results are! |

Yes, having a head full of hair when lots of people compliment it, I am grateful. I will definitely write a review once I get the hair laser removal. |

it's same with me. I have hairs on my arms and legs, but my mom is basically hairless on her arms and legs. sigh! |

I went for threading a few times and I'll never go back to plucking (I've never waxed my brows). I'd have to say for me threading hurts LESS than plucking (I used to get mine plucked w/a professional facialist prior to threading). I also find my brows are the opposite to qisme's in the sense that with threading my brows grow back a lot slower than plucking which is good because I'm sort of lazy to get my butt out to get it done sometimes. I pluck to reshape when I see newly growing brows as well. And even though I've gone plucking quite a few times my brows are always somewhat red afterwards where this has never happened even when I went threading for the first time, so for me threading is less irritating as well. It's also 1/3 the price of plucking at $5CAD compared to $15 |

hopemelody - have you ever thought of hair laser removal? I would love for one day not to have to shave my legs. But isn't it funny how our mom's are the opposite from us.
sormuimui - the first time my cousin plucked my eyebrows (which took 30 mins), I almost passed out from the pain because she did it soooo slow. But now I don't feel anything (I pluck it really fast) and when I do feel the pain, I enjoy it. (sicko huh) . High tolerance for pain. When I pluck for my cousins (they won't let their little sister pluck) & mom/dad, they would fall asleep. Weird. |

I get my eyebrows shaped via threading here in London. I don't know that it last that much longer then waxing, but it is alot less painful then waxing. Also if you use products like RetinA you don't have to worry about it taking the skin off around your eyebrow as waxing does. Threading is not nearily as irratating to your skin. But this is an art - be sure you go to a qualified/recommended therapist for this - or you may end up with odd shaped brows! |

qisme615: the first time I got it done (plucking) the facialist was very experienced and did it very fast, but there was still a bit of pain (my hair are so stubborn!). But it subsides over time as you do it more, I think the roots of the hair just gets the hint and loosens after a while.
amaska: I'm in Vancouver (actually Rmd). I got a rec from another forum and there's a place just a 10min drive from my house. It's a hair salon opened by this Iranian lady. I also read that if you want to do it in Vancouver you're best to try your luck on Fraser St. at the Indian salons (however I've read good and bad experiences from them). Basically I just googled and got a bunch of blog/forum threads regarding where to thread in Vancouver. Not sure if you're in TO or Van, but if you wanna try out my place PM me and I can give you the name and address =) |
