I just posted in another thread about how much I love piling on the mascara. And I have to wonder -- are other people looking at me thinking, "holy hell, j-lo"?
Granted, I have very dark hair and eyebrows, so there is a little room for drama -- but let's have it out....natural? drama? thick v. long? black v. natural color? novelty colors?
tell me what you think.
I'll go first.
I love a very heavy but defined fringe ala Holly Golightly. |

I love piling on the mascara, too! You're not alone.  I definitely put on a few coats, but for me it's important that lashes are still separated and I like mascara that builds without getting spiky/spidery.
My favorite for layering & a more pronounced look is Laura Mercier's waterproof mascara. I did recently buy the Dr. H mascara for when I want a more natural look and really like it, but it takes a bit of getting used to because it doesn't really provide thickness...just definition. |

I agree. I can't believe girls are still walking around with ther spider eyes! I need to start carrying some of those tweezerman fine tooth lash combs with me and handing them out  There's a fine line between sexily dramatic and just plain gross. I, am not good at walking this line, so stick with the super natural looking type. |

| I've been trying to cut back lately because I saw a picture of myself....not good. I usually put 3 coats on in the morning and then one towards the end of the day. WAY TOO MUCH! I am trying to stick to 1 coat in the morning unless I'm going out that night....then I can go crazy. |

And don't get me started about the spider lashes in tandem with thick black liquid eyeliner...on blondes. barf. |

| I put on two coats in the morning, and that's it. I have Rimmel Lash Extender in black when i want to go dramatic and Super Lash in black brown when I want less dramatic. Sometimes I think it has to do with the type of eyes you have and the quality of mascara you use, whether or not you got a good look going. I work with a lady who has small, deepset eyes and her mascara clumps and flakes all over her face, as well as weeps onto her upper and bottom lids. You have to wonder at what point she'll realize, 'hey, I'm doing something wrong here.' |

| yeh I think as long as it still look like your lashes then it's all good! some wear mascara and look like they dumped black goo on their lashes...brrr |

personally I prefer using it on top only. don't really know why, probably pure laziness |

I do a teeny bit on the bottom but with a lash tint rather than mascara so it doesn't flake or smudge. I have giant cow eyes so I go with it an go for the twiggy look. no liner though, that would be too much -- and I have very dark hair so it doesn't look odd. |

I definitely do at least 2 coats of mascara, since my heated curler takes a lot off the first time around.
I usually put on a volume mascara first, and then a lengthening one. Since the volume mascara tends to be a bit thicker I put that on first, and then the lengthening one which I love from Rimmel does a great job as a second coat without giving me the spider-eyed look which is apparently coming back. |
