I've used rosehip seed oil for a couple of years now without a break-out problem. Smile On the other hand, some of the strangest things have made my skin break out! So ... it just goes to show that everyone is different ... have different sensitivities and reactions ... and I have heard that rosehip seed oil doesn't agree with some. Smile For other people, it actually helps heal breakouts. Smile

I've used rosehip seed oil in the past & had the same problem. I've known other acne-prone people who had issues with it, too. Some don't - but there are a good many who do.

i'm another who breaks out with rosehip seed. it's slower than, say, shea butter (yikes!) and tends to get me congested first.

Frodo -- the pearl powder you ordered (not the primer, right?) is to be used at night after your pearl cream. Mary started playing with this idea after so many people were loving Rare Minerals. not only is it good for your skin on it's own, but it also protects it from pollutants (sleeping with an open window in the city or near a road) and irritants (like detergent from the sheets for delicate allergic types like myself). and the lavendar (that's the one i ordered as well) will help you get a good night's sleep.

as an aside, i'm currently using something that smells truly vile but my face is loving it (of course!). i am seriously hoping that the lavendar smell in the powder will help neutralise this as my pillows smell like dirty rotten feet Rolling Eyes after one night....

If I just wanted to add pearl powder to my existing cream, how much would you suggest I add to a 4oz jar??

hi, i add pearl powder to my pre-make up primer.

But i dont mix the entire content of my jar with pearl powder. instead, i mix it every time i have to apply it, i.e. by dabbing 1 drop of primer to the centre of my palm, then adding literally 1 pinch of pearl powder. Then i apply the mixture.

I dont think i want to mix the entire jar with e.g. teaspoons of pearl powder, coz i worry i may introduce air bubbles (or other bacteria / pollutants) into my cream, making it turn bad sooner.

Hi dd7. Thanks for your reply. I think I will make mini-batches, like the size of the sample pots they give you at Sephora. It should last about a week. I think that shouldn't spoil the cream??

I still have no idea how much to add. I'm not much of a DIY & I don't cook, so measurements like a "pinch" or a "dash", or "to taste" or "to consistency" are all foreign to me. I need to have some sort of a measurement, otherwise I'm lost. I know pretty pathetic.

Does anyone have an idea of how many tsp/tbs of pearl powder should be added per oz?

So sorry no one has answerred last post yet Crying or Very sad

Me too I've read the whole thread, still I have some burning questions......

My skin is very prone to break outs. And I don't want to add another layer on my face. So that's why I also would like to add the pearl powder (I just reveived it in the mail yesterday) to one of my existing products.
So what is best to add it to?
- to the 5% Benzoyl Peroxide gel? (am)
- to the DMAE-serum? (am)
- to the (Paula's Choice) non-greasy sunscreen SPF15? (am)
- to the 0,03% tretinoin? (pm)

And what amount of pearl powder?

I really hope someone can help me. I have heard so much promising stories about the pearl powder, I can't wait to try it myself!! Just don't know how exactly.

Thanks and regards from the Netherlands,
Jouke

PS: inspite of the tretinoin and the BP, I still suffer from breakouts Sad

Pearl powder is water soluble ... so you need to mix it with water before you mix it with a cream.

Hi Jouke,

I wouldn't mix the pearl powder with any of those things personally ... but you need to discover which are water-based and which are oil-based.

As to the amount ... you have to play with pearl powder a bit to figure out the consistency you want.

Also ... a "pinch", "dash" and a "smidgeon" are, in fact, measurements. There are small measuring spoons that have those names on them ... and they represent, I believe, 1/8 tsp [dash], 1/16 tsp [pinch] and 1/32 tsp [smidgeon].

Also people sometimes refer to a "pinch" as just that. Take your fingers, pinch your index finger and thumb together in the pearl powder and add the amount trapped between those digits.

HTH

Mary

Hi Jouke,
Your skin sounds like mine. To be honest - Pearl Powder did tonnes more for my skin than the Tretinoin and topical Antibiotics combined! So, for me the solution was very clear. Toss out everything else and use Pearl Powder Paste alone. After good 4-5 weeks of clear skin I slowly started adding some of my other actives. Still, I mostly use Pearl Powder Paste alone and I don't ever use Tretinoin any more.

If I were you, I'd try pearl powder product (there is a DIY cream and also some other options for ready to use creams) for a couple of weeks and see what that does for your skin.

Hope this helps.
