Thank you truffles, you're right everyone is different, but 5 is not enough for me. I just do them sitting near computer or watching tv, so I don't really count and don't hold, but I am doing more than 5, like I told plus/minus, can be 20-25 or 30. May be she recommends doing only 5 of these if you're doing other neck exs?? like 35? head turns on the floor, then only 5 of scooping? I don't do turns, tried once, and decided to stick to scooping for awhile.

Jasminerosey, that scooping ex you just described is exactly the same as on my basic dvd, so your VHS tape does not seem to be outdated, that is the basic program.

Jasminerosey, I also took a quick look through my Revised Edition...that basic program is in there describing the same exercises as what is on my dvd and what you just described for scooping, except she adds a finger to the chin for more resistance and that is the only change I see on the basics. I think the revised book has just added the 9 progressive ones for after learning the basics, for any problem areas that may need more help.

Sister Sweet,

LOL it was in the beginning and several people were working on it, but I bet even now its somewhat out of date, as there are probably a lot more out there - so interested to hear from anyone else who is doing a program with a website that I haven't caught yet!

Many of the programs above all have their followers and I believe that if the person attempting a program really has the intention of becoming ageless, the universe will attempt to meet them half way. Although I'm connected to Flex Effect, I don't see it as the only program out there (although in my mind it does tick many of the aging boxes), but I recognise that Lou's does this, and so does Eva's etc and in my opinion the world has enough people in it to continue to help the facial exercising community thrive without difficulty (and I believe that is what teachers and students of facial exercises are - a community).

Its certainly an empowering tool in my mind, and we have such a large following on EDS, it doesn't surprise me this thread is already 38 pages, and you know in the coming years I bet it grows even more - as facial exercise does compliment good skincare (and where better can you read reviews/learn new techniques of skincare in as big a number!).

Sean you are absolutely right.
It really doesn't matter which program someone uses, as long as they're happy with it. And if they find they need more, or a change at any stage, there's plenty to choose from to try. As you've shown above.
It really is good to have you with your all knowledge on this board.

LOL I am sure in reality the list is much much longer, but these are all the ones I have so far. I bet there are probably others out there and some day need to spend a week searching and seeing what I find!

Hi, Everybody! SeanySeanUK, Thank you for the list. I found it interesting that The Eigard Method says the exercises don't require crinkling and puckering the skin. I still worry about making faces while doing some facial exercises. I just can't get it through my head that these exaggerated movements won't cause wrinkles. Confused

Mars... I totally get that.. It is definitely something to wrap your brain around. Especially, if you've been taught otherwise...

Imagine the first people that HAD to let go of the "earth is flat"... Imagine THAT boat ride... That had to be as scary as hell... And quite frankly, I'm sure the only reason for financing the search for proof of such a scientific discovery had to do with projected FINANCIAL Gain... Which is why you won't see big $$ behind facial exercises... Just imagine what the skin care world Would/could have done if bodybuilding hadn't already been proven and they still try to sell cellulite cream.

That said, if the skin is kept really healthy, strong and supple it doesn't wrinkle. It only wrinkles when it starts to lose it's integrity (which can be compromised in a gazzilion ways it seems). However, people do see wrinkles, and when a line does appear, say a smile line or an 11 between the brows. Generally, this has to do with holding an expression in a partially contracted position. So, you need to work through the entire contraction toning it back to an original strength... and in some cases work the opposing muscle (if there is one... depends on the muscle) to help pull that out... That's a very simplified explanation...

In the end, if a person can't wrap their mind around it... from MY perspective he/she is missing out on the cheapest way to enhance or maintain his/her appearance... from that person's perspective, however? No reason to stress over what you're doing for your own well being and emotional status.

That was CLASSIC....I literally laughed out loud when I read that!

This really isn't much different than the recent study showing that moisturizers actually make your skin DRIER (and possibly age faster)....yet most people still slather them on every night because this is not info that is disseminated to the masses.

But it comes down to personal preference...you have to do what you feel comfortable with. I personally avoid moisturizers AND do facial exercises. So by public standards, I'm doomed! Shock

Yep Bethany.... your face should fall off pretty soon.

I can see how over moisture would prevent your skin from making it's own oil... Same concept of over-stripping Oily skin... causing you to over produce??? Kind of like an enema... eventually, it will be the only thing to work... as the body doesn't.

It seems I've seen this discussed elsewhere... Is that the million page non acid thread... ??? I haven't read up yet..

No, there was a separate thread on a research study, though Dr. Obagi and Dr. Huber (302) have long said the same thing.

I'll find the thread and PM it to you.
