I've been on obagi for about 3 months now, and I'm breaking out with acne. I've never had acne before, and nothing else in my life has changed. My skin is worse than it's ever been before. Anyone else have the same problems? |

Adult acne was my 30th birthday gift and I suffered from huge cysts on my face. I put up with it for a year and tried EVERYTHING! It can get very expensive so I opted for the professionals (dermatologist). I was intimidated to go to one but it was great and I'm pleased I did because I get compliments on my skin now and I just laugh when I think about how it was two years ago!
I was on acutane for 6 mnths which is a very potent drug and pricey but there are other alternatives like topical creams, Retin A or Tazorac they can prescribe. How the Dr explained it was the drugs stopped the over production of oil from the inside out. Stuff like Proactive works well but its just a bandaid and once you stop it usually comes back. At least for me after spending $$
My advice is to change your products and use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil and use moisturisers that have glycolic acid in it. Neostrata & Reversa have a great % of it without needing a prescription. It stings at first but it helps to dry up the face!
I've also learned from this site that Apple Cider Vinegar is a great toner for acne and oily skin.
However I would suggest going to Dermatologist .. calculate all the $ you'd spend buying topical creams and use that to pay for the dr bill!
Good luck and keep your chin up cause your not alone! |

Sorry LP76, I went off in a passionate rant without realising you were asking about that specific product ... I've heard this one is good and with most things like this it usually gets worse before it gets better.
I remember using Tazorac topical cream and it went through the stages, cleaning out the impurities of the skin but then started to get better!
Good luck and sorry for all that advice you probably don't need! |

LP76,
Are you being treated by a derm or plastic surgeon? If you are, I would mention your concern to them. Perhaps it is one of the base ingredients in the Obagi system that is causing the breakouts. Or it could be hormonal/stress. Just to let you know, you can use a prescription topical antibiotic with Obagi. One that comes to mind is clindamycin gel. Ask your doc and see what they come up with. Good luck and hang in there!!

Hi. I'm using Obagi products and have been very pleased with them so far and now considering getting Obagi Action. Does it really work when the peelings are out of control? |
