Are you trying to send a "private message" to someone? If so, click on "You have no new messages" (basically the tab next to "watched topics"), "send new message" and search the name of the person that you want to contact.

I’ve send you a private message. You should see on top of the screen "you have 1 new message”; I hope it’ll help in the future
