So I've come to realize that I've accumulated a rather long list of stuff in my routine and I plan on simplifying it, not just for time sake, but for $$ too.
My first step is to see if I really *need* my Decleor Matt Finish Skin Fluid...does it really keep me matte?
So for the next week to two weeks I'm going without. I automatically incorporated it when I purchased it in July with my YY oil and two night balms. But, I'm not sure what exactly it's doing, if anything. It doesn't really moisturize me, I just added Jurlique Calendula (review, of course, in a few weeks) because I needed something extra. If I don't need it, it'll save me 33 bucks. It is economical, in all honesty, it's going to last me forever because I use so little (only in my t-zone) and I'll continue to use it until it's gone, but if I don't need to repurchase, then fine because every little bit helps.
So I will be updating this entry in a week or two...I'm actually hoping it works!!!! I hope to get to the point where the only things I'm buying somewhat regularly are cleanser, toner, and acne medication and the occasional Sofina .
The other items I use last forever...
EDIT: Anyone else have any product they'd like to "go without" for a week or two? We can do it together...kinda like a support group
We can do it! |

I salute you too! I've played this game before--- once I went a whole week ( ) without toner to see what happened. My skin went all to heck, and I definitely haven't tried it since... |

I quit using most of my stuff and my skin got way better! I guess you can only pile on so much. |

Actually, now that I think of it I'm conducting a new experiment of my own--- I'm cutting out silicones!!! OK, so I'm cheating occasioanlly with eye cream (just HAVE to try out this skin cube stuff I just got...), but the silicone-based moisturizers, primers, etc have all been shelved! I'm going to see if cutting them all out results in fewer clogged pores. Three cheers for beauty experiments! |

I thought it would be hard, but its not, I cut out all but dmae and a cream for a few weeks (ok 4 weeks) so I could truely tell what dmae was doing, what I found is I don't need much more at all. I've now added a C in, and thats it besides eyecream and face cream...oh and JM, but otherwise I've cut a ton out. So I suggest give it a whirl, you'll surprise urself at what u don't miss. |

I went a week without my Cellex-C High Potency Serum and it was rough. My poor skin. |

Well, I wish you luck! It is good to "clean up" the routine occasionally because it is too easy to add things without subtracting... Unfortunatly I cannot join you as my routine is cleanse and moisturise for the time being, I'm actually trying to add a step (moisturising serum)! I learned years ago that my skin defenitly don't like too much stuff. |

So it's been about two weeks and the results are in.
I stopped using my Decleor Mattifying Fluid (proper title: Decleor Aroma Purete Matt Finish Skin Fluid) for two weeks to see if there was a difference in whether or not my skin stayed more matte with it.
Truth be told, there was absolutely NO difference.
In fact, I integrated Jurlique Calendula Cream when I got rid of the Decleor and my skin actually faired better than before.
My conclusion...even in tandem with the Ylang Ylang oil (per recommendation) there is was no difference between when I used it and when I didn't.
I'm going to save this for next summer, as even though they place it within the "moisturizer" category, it doesn't moisturize well, so this will be for the hot summer months, until I run out of it. And then I will not repurchase, as it was somewhat of a waste of money since it doesn't do much to keep my skin matte.
That said, I LOVE Decleor's ylang ylang oil and balm. Though when I run out of the oil, I'm going to have a go at making my own. I won't need to do that for a good 6 or more months though.
Anyway, just thought I'd update. In a way I was disappointed, but then again, now I know and I can save my $33 in the future. |

I appreciate your experiment. Great food for thought there. I am guilty of adding A LOT of new products lately, not even sure what each one is supposed to do at this point, and I have not subtracted any products. Time to do some house cleaning! Thanks a lot. I really don't want to waste money, or use more than my skin needs. |
