I have very dry skin on my legs, esp. my shins. I need serious HELP in getting a cream that can make them nice and smooth!
Feet and heels, too. |

Try Vichy --- they are famous for body creams and they dont contain as much chemical to further dry your skin as other brands.
But if that's not good enough, you can try Borghese, I think they have a really nice white cream for dry skin.
I'm using Aveeno myself, but that might not be rich enough for you.. |

Try a good moisturiser that has glycolic acid in it. It will moisturise and exfoliate at the same time, leaving you with smoother skin. Peter Thomas Roth makes one (they make a shower gel with glycolic too), and I'm sure heaps of other brands do as well. You might also like to incorporate using a loofah in the shower or a body scrub. Another thing I do is use the Dermalogica Body Oil underneath the moisturiser. If you are going to use a body oil (even if it's baby oil) then make sure you apply it to damp skin instead of dry skin.

I am just apologizing for this simple remedy that is not sold on this site. I get crazy dry skin in the winter on my legs. I love the Bath and Body works salt or sugar scrubs for exfoliation and then really any cream-especially any Johnson and Johnson lotion with baby oil in it-not the actuall oil-too greasy.
The question is now salt or sugar. It depends on what kind of exfoliation you want. Sensitive people need to stick with sugar. For a tougher exfoliation and a little sting go for the salt. The scrubs are great because they are based in oil. Of course then use a moisturizing shower gel and always moisturize after EVERY bath/shower. |

Another good thing you can do, which I just remembered yesterday and just started using again as well, is to apply oil on damp skin just after your shower. It works to lock in your body's moisture. There's many different skin oils you can use, ranging from AlphaKeri Oil, Burt's Bees Apricot Body Oil, to the yummy likes of Dr Hauschka oils (that's me at the moment), Dermalogica, and Jurlique Body care oil.
If you use this after exfoliation, or dry body brushing, your skin should be smooth, moisturized and oh-so-soft in no time!

I sympathise. For me what really worked was dry body brushing....always towards the heart, 1-2x a day, use one of those micridermabrasion cloths in the shower/bath after, but don't rub too hard. Whilst in the shower (you can do this in the bath, but it does get really grotty !) smooth a vege based oil over your skin and rub in well. The oil can be anything, olive, almond etc. I make my own blend of almond grape seed rosehip and rose otto (the otto doesn't do much I think except smell divine!). Mineral oils such as those in baby oil etc only sit on the surface of the skin, which is fine for general moisturising but not if you really need to feed your skin. Get out and pat yourself dry, oh, and DON'T SLIP! Massage the remains of the oil into youur skin (or find a helpful partner! . Add more to any really dry areas. Repeat every day till skin gets smooth and soft. You could then reduce to routine 1-2x a week. This is time consuming, but after about 2 weeks you will see results. Word of warning, if you have eczema/dermatitis etc, brush and scrub gently, or drop the scrub and keep the brushing. Hope that is useful and sorry EDS, it's all homemade! |

| If you're looking for a body lotion, Kiehl's Crème de Corps is excellent. For a much more budget-friendly option, Palmer's Cocoa Butter is also great. |

I've gone banananas on olive oil mixed with an essential oil or two... Actually I use my OCM mixture as a leg saver. I was away skiing for 4 days, and each morning and/or night I used my oil on my dry and tired legs and they loved it - soothing and moisturizing.
Smoothed the remaining oil into hands and nails+cuticles = shiny happy nails |

| Avene Trixera is very good for the dry skin on my legs. For my dry and cracked heels, a cream with AHA helps smooth things out. |

Are you dehydrated? How much water and EFA's do you consume?
I have dry skin too, it's horrible. To the point of flaking skin cells. I imagine though it must be an internal problem that's causing my skin to get dehydrated. |

When I started taking Flax Seed oil is when my skin started showing a big difference in less dryness. It makes my skin much softer and smoother. It does make my face a tiny bit oily, but since I'd rather be that than dry, I don't mind.
It's great to lower cholesterol, which is why I started taking it. It's full of Omega 3, which your body needs anyway.
I take the capsules, 1,000 mgs. 2 a day.
You can put all kinds of things ON your skin to help, but what comes from inside counts for a lot! |

Get youself some exfoliating gloves, I purchased a pair of these a while back and use them every morning in the shower, takes up no extra time at all and my skin is so soft and smooth.
For a really luxurious moisturiser for those legs I suggest having a go with Olive Oil, it makes the best intensive moisturising treatment, just smooth into your legs then take off any excess with a paper towel. |
