I am currently using BE's Mineral Veil, but I would like to experiment with others. If I don't have to pick a color, it's even better! |

I like Pure Luxe's "April's Mix" and "You Glo, Girl." The "April's Mix" is not as glowy as "You Glo, Girl." You can get samples from Pure Luxe of both of these, and you can pretty much tell from one use if you're going to like them. |

I really like April Mix's. I have EDM finishing dust and I find that it seems to settle into my pores. At first I thought it was my MMU; but realized it is absoluetly the ED finishing dust.
I have Must Have Minerals/Lumiere on order with full sizes of finishing powder and I will review that also. |

I'm using and loving Dr Hauschka's Loose Powder. Excellent finish and coverage. |

I've been using Carekate's silk dust for a while but I find with Alima I don't need to set it - it just doesn't rub off and adheres to my skin like a dream. I only use the silk dust when I know I'll be out for the whole day so it's to keep my oilies at bay. I also concur with wildflower except I use the pressed version. I really like it and I use it to retouch (or reset) my existing makeup after I've blotted.
But sometimes I'll use a finishing powder to make my skin look prettier - like my Guerlain meteorites. |

Do you apply the silk dust before or after Alima? I'm trying to experiment to see which method is more oil-absorbing. Seems like silk dust before is, but I get a nicer finish if I apply it after my MMU. I tried sandwiching Alima between 2 applications of silk dust ala Carekate but ended up looking too cakey. |

I do a light dusting of the Silk Dust after Alima. The silk dust is a bit drying for me so if I do it before then when I apply Alima it will stick to any dry flakes I might have. Also applying before cancels out the point of my regular primer which I apply to hydrate and smooth those dry flakes. I don't use the silk dust everyday either because I find Alima doesn't make my skin oily so there's only a small difference on when I have to blot with using the silk dust - maybe an hour of difference.
My skin is pretty balanced from the use of oils so right now my main concern is dehydration rather than oil control so the silk dust isn't a main part of my routine and sometimes I forget to use it. |

My new favorite: CareKate's Silk Dust in Lavender.
It's positively fabulous! |

I absolutely agree with Paris! I have Carekate's Citrus Silk Dust and it is truly HG for me. I can put all of the others away, for good. |

I think you can get a sample kit containing three foundation, one brush and one concealer from everyday minerals make up. this may help your experiments |

Does Carekate's silk dust have a glow to it? |

Glow in what sense? Shine? No, it doesn't. But that's why I like it |

no worries lefemme...I don't like shine in my makeup (except my eye shadow)...as my face can "shine" all on its own (aka oilies!) |

I use Mineral veil by I.D. Bare Escentuals and am happy with it. I rarely have to reapply throughout the day. |

I use Clé de Peau finishing powder. It's $$$ but lasts forever and boy, what a beautiful finish - no glow, just perfect. I add glow, if desired, with bronzers or shimmers. |

Alima doesn't really need a setting powder. but if I need one, it's April's Mix from Pure Luxe all the way!!
Am interested to try Carekate's formula eventually, maybe for the summer when I don't want a glowy look |
