Hi. I've been using Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil for several years and although it works well for my skin (i.e. it doesn't break me out or clog my pores) I find that it sometimes leaves my skin feeling a little tight. I'm quite interested in trying out cleansing oils from other brands as I'm forever in search of my HG cleansing oil.

My favourite cleansing oil is Babor's 2 step cleanser, the hy-öl and phytoactive combination.

I absolutely love DHC cleansing oil. I have combination skin and I find that this cleaning oil removes all traces of make up without stripping skin. Once I wash the oil off my skin feels clean, hydrated & soft. I have tried so many different cleansers over the years - many have been efficient in terms of cleansing but no other cleanser has ever left my skin in such great condition. This is my HG cleanser.........I just pray that that DHC never discontinue this !

Thanks. I've heard good reviews about DHC cleansing oil as well and think I'm gonna give it a try. I hardly ever wear makeup but I do wear waterproof sunscreen with SPF 50 every day and it's hard to remove. That's why I use cleansing oil. I'm just wondering if you need to use a face cleanser after using DHC?

The pure luxe cleansing oil is really gorgeous. very thick and fragrant - smells of lemongrass, which minimises pores. It's good value, too.

I also like the Biotique cleansing oil, which is almond oil based.

I love Mineral Melt by Pur Minerals. It COMPLETELY dissolves any eye makeup & leaves skin feeling clean & moisturized.

Hi Lynn2525

As regards using a face cleanser after using DHC there is absolutely no need to. When I first used DHC I expected to be left with a slight residue which would require another cleanser. The first time I used it I just could not believe how easily this stuff rinses off and then it dawned on me that DHC is a water soluble cleanser Exclamation My face was left silky smooth, feeling well cleansed with out any hint of residue. I usually leave 30 mins after cleansing before applying moisturiser & night treatments. With other cleansers I found that in the 30 min 'window' my skin would start to feel slightly tight ...DHC just leaves my skin feeling very normal.

Forgot to add (having one of my blonde moments Rolling Eyes !) that I also wear Neutrogena Dry Touch sunscreen during the day under my make up and the DHC oil very effectively removes this

There is a thread on this subject, if you search for it. But my favorite is DHC; it's the only one I've ever used. I like to use a cleanser afterwards, as I use the DHC mainly to break up makeup. I find it helps diffuse winter dryness and even tone.

Leidon,
What type of skin do you have? Has the product ever clogged pores? Do you also wash afterwards?

I've used DHC Cleansing Oil in the past but my skin didn't like it as it broke out with pimples. Crying or Very sad
So, cleansing oil is not for me.

I have been using La Vitton (now Laventine due to name change) cleansing oil. It's been working great for me and smells great, IMO.

Same here, can't use the cleansing oil except when removing makeup, which is a rare thing for me.

I'm going to have to second (third? fourth?) the DHC Cleansing Oil. I wear those really tough to remove Asian sunscreens in the summer, and the DHC takes it right off.

The best cleansing oil that I've used is one mixed up for me by Markey at Garden of Wisdom. I had read about OCM on this forum and wanted to try it. I asked Markey some questions about different oils, and she was nice enough to make up 4 different mixes that I could try "blind" so as not to be biased into liking a given mix based on its popularity on the forum. I have been testing these since the beginning of October or thereabouts. I have two that I like a lot, I just need to get the recipes from Markey! Smile

I recently discovered Babor's 2 step cleanser, the hy-öl and phytoactive combination when I was in Germany. After many years of struggling to find a good cleanser for my thin, combination skin, I felt like a light had come on. It feels as though it melts away impurities and leaves your skin feeling moisturized (for the dry parts) and squeaky clean (for the oily parts). It seems that this DHC discussed above is much more popular, and I've noticed that not many people in North America speak much of the Babor, though its all over Germany. Has anyone tried both the DHC and the Babor?

I have used many. My absolute favorite is Pur Minerals. It feels a little heavier than Aloette's or DHC's but leaves your skin feeling moisturized but not greasy. I am slightly oily and prone to breakouts and blackheads. I have experienced nothing but joy using this product. I use it to remove my eye makeup and concealer and then cleanse with Eucerin Sensitive Skin Cleansing Lotion. A good combo. I do believe the use of an oil - whether it is Pur Minerals or not - gives me a thorough, gentle cleansing and thus less breakouts.
