I found a liquid foundation I like recently, but it contains Titanium Dioxide. I am using LRP sunscreen which has avobenzone. I wanted to know whether Titanium Dioxide in the foundation is coated, because it is said that uncoated Titanium Dioxide can distablize avobenzone, so I wrote an email to the company. Here is their answer:
"This ingredient (Titanium Dioxide) is added to the various components before they are placed in a mixer to provide a homogeneous product."
Does it mean Titanium Dioxide has been coated or not? Please help me understand this sentence. Thank you. |

Hiya. From what I can tell, they did not really answer your question. The response means that they add the TD to each component (I assume they mean ingredient here) before they are all mixed together for the final product. It could mean that the TD gets coated but it doesn't specifically state that. It is not very clearly defined.

I agree, it seems like they danced around saying "the titanium dioxide is uncoated" because company reps are basically told to not say anything to customers that may deter them from buying the products. They probably didn't realize the importance of what you were asking, so they didn't think it was important to answer you directly. I would recommend to not use the sunscreen with the foundation, sorry |

I agree with the others...I don't think this titanium dioxide is coated or they would have made it more clear. |

Thank you all for your reply. I sent one more email last night to the company for a direct answer. If they don't give me this answer, I think I have to drop it or change a sunscream.
The brand of the foundation is Nouba, an Italian makeup line, not so famous, but the liquid foundation is quite good, quite natural and not dry at all in winter.
By the way, is Titanium Dioxide in liquid foundation necessary to be coated or uncoated? Thanks. |
