I'll share my brief experience with Derma Wand. When it arrived, I watched the DVD, and it looked easy enough, the wand glided smoothly over the model's face, so I hurried in to wash my face and apply the gel from the tiny bottle that was included. It said use a dollop about the size of a nickel. That much covered one cheek, so I used more, covering my face and neck and began using the Derma wand on the first setting.

It didn't quite glide over my face as in the DVD because the gel dries fast! I was thinking the bottle would probably last me a week. The sensation wasn't painful, but I didn't enjoy it, getting zapped as I tried to find my comfort zone, and there wasn't any comfort zone on my forehead, not even at 1.

I washed my face, not impressed, but vowing to give it a few months before making up my mind not to like it. I read some more on these boards, saw you shouldn't use it over broken vessels; I have a few around my nose, so I would need to watch out for those. Also saw that it's great for acne. I don't have acne.

The second time, same day, I used it, it came on, but I kept turning the dial higher, and the tingling got weaker and weaker till there was nothing, no tingling, no light, no ozone smell. It was dead.

I contacted the seller (through Amazon.com), and he was nice, offered to send me another one if I sent this one back. By now, I just wasn't wanting to go through the hassle, so I said, no, please just let me return it for a refund. He said fine. So, I'm hoping to get my money back. Onward to my next quest for the HG!

Today I saw a skin care specialist and told her I just bought the Derma Wand and she told me that this device is more for younger skin and help with pimples in that the oxygen helps kill bacteria. I'm 52 and she said it would age me because this is not the best device for anti-aging. I guess I'll give it to my teenage sons. Was wondering if anybody over 50 have used this and what their results were.

I'm 57 and have been using the Derma Wand twice a day for the past three months. Personally, this is my favourite skin care gadget - I think it has really helped to even out my skin tone and somehow my skin just looks healthier. Realistically, I don't think that any home device is going to magically get rid of wrinkles but since I've been using the Derma Wand I have noticed a general improvement in the look of my skin - my husband has noticed it too - now that IS a miracle!

I would definitely give it a try, now that you have it, you have nothing to loose.

OMG!! I'm 55 and received and used Derma Wand for the first time yesterday exactly according to instructions. I woke up this morning with broken caps + spider veins all over my cheeks and chin. My chest is also extremely red and looks like chicken skin...I'm so upset I don't know what to do now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For the record: My skin is fair with only the beginning signs of aging ie; laugh lines, puffy under eye, slight skin slackening. I did have the "chicken skin" + redness from sun damage, but it completely disappeared after a vigilant month of LightStim use. My skin responded wonderfully to treatment with the "LightStim". I also woke up with what looks like a lot of fluid filled pouch bags under my eyes.

Should I just continue with the LightStim? Should I wait a few days and then try the Derma Wand again in a different manner? I don't know what to do now. I'm also desperate for any words of wisdom from all of you "Guru's" about how to minimize the pouchy bags I now have which are 50% worse than they were.

TIA for your help...........

Hi Kassy, this sounds dire. I did not have this reaction with the Dermawand at all. I did used to have allot of broken caps so I had several IPL treatments to get rid of them. Therefore I was worried that using the Dermawand might irritate them and bring them back. However, if anything, any redness left on my skin has diminished significantly. So heaven knows why you've had this reaction. What setting did you use? Did you start off slowly? In what order did you use the devices? I use Baby Q first then Dermawand.

I would continue with the Lightstim and see if everything settles down in a few days. I would also try putting something calming and soothing on your skin, such as aloe vera gel. Hope it all sorts itself out soon.

I used the LitgtStim today after giving myself a gentle facial and applying a gentle moisturizer. Some of the redness has lightened up (Thank God!), but the many caps/spider veins are still there.

I really hate to give up the Derma Wand after just one use..grrr. Now that I think about it, I may have been over zealous for my first time with it. I didn't feel anything at all, so just kept upping the number. I did the circular motions on my whole face and neck for about 5 minutes altogether. But the setting was up to about 7 or 8. Do you think keeping it at say 3 would still have benefit, without the dreaded caps????

Do you have any good tips for reducing fluid/bags under the eye?

Thanks so much for your input, I really appreciate it....... Shock

When I first used the Dermawand I started off on 1 but then immediately went straight up to 9 - I always take the aggressive approach! Also, I've been using it morning and night which I think is probably overkill. But as I said before, I have not had any acceleration of broken caps. Maybe you could email the Dermawand website and see what they advise.

As for the under eye bags, the only remedy I know of is an old fashioned one - cold tea bags placed over the eyes. HTH.

Thanks Keliu, I am going to contact customer service to see what they advise.

I'll give the tea"bags" a whirl...lol

Mine just arrived today. I'm particularly hopeful that it might help puffy/dark circles under the eyes - have any users here had any success with that?

I don't currently have any pimples bubbling under, but will it help for whiteheads/blackheads/moderate scarring?

Thanks in advance to any derma wand users who might be able to answer these questions.

I went back to the DW after a two day break. The broken caps are almost gone now. I received an email from customer service advising me to use a lower setting.

I gave myself two treatments since yesterday with the control set to #4, and just briefly on the cheek area. So far so good!

The under eye bags haven't improved any yet, but I imagine it takes a while.

Am I wasting my time with the setting so low? Does anybody out there do likewise and still see results?

Oh boy..this is my first ever post on EDS. I bought the DW about 4 weeks ago after reading the threads here. I have used it nightly since, on a setting of about 4 or 5.

I love it. Has definitely plumped the area around my lips, my 2 little lines there are almost invisable now. Some broken caps I had from Retin A are actually improved. Hasn't helped my undereyes much yet, but I go lightly there. I use it on my hands and chest as well. Time will tell if it helps those "troubled" areas.

cheers

I have to say I also love my Derma Wand. Unfortunately I dropped it and the bulb broke and I'm eagerly awaiting my replacent. I used it every morning and evening and my skin look great! However, I haven't used it for a week now and my skin is back to how it use to be Sad . I've just ordered the Baby Q so I can use the two together!

Just wanted to share, that after 3 months of use, 'most' days, my Derma Wand is my favorite skin care tool.

I also use LightStim and NuFace, but the Derma Wand is awesome..

The Derma Wand is my favourite gadget too. Considering it's one of the least expensive skin devices, it's definitely worth having.

I especially love the control I have when using it. It's the perfect size and shape.

Personally, I have to admit, I have better 'lifting' results with Derma Wand than NuFace. I think it's because I feel very awkward when using NuFace.

Hi,
I just bought my Derma Wand today from HSN and wanted to let everyone in the US know it's their Today Special Value. It's 75.00 and 6.00 for the shipping.

First thing I did was come here to see what everyone was saying about it. Hope it work's for me! My eye's are a little hooded and would love to lift them.

You can also get it on three monthly payment's so you can try it for that first payment and return within 30 day's if it don't work.

It works!

Just study the video that comes with it, and then be consistent.

I have been lurking here for a while. Thought I'd actually post for a change. I have been using dermawand for 10 months. I don't ever want to be without it. I use it every morning
to drive in my moisturizer. I use Victoria Princelpal's Reclaim products.

I have the broken caps on the apples of my cheeks and a few on my upper thigh. I feel like the derma wand has actually helped mine.

I love how it plumps my parentheses around my
mouth. The lines on my forehead and between my eyes are next to naught. I have very fine thin hair and I use it on the spot that was balding due to hair loss from thyroid and It helped restore the hair there. The best place however, any of you who have thyroid disease know the disgusting bags we pack under our eyes, it has helped these more than anything. I honestly can't rave enough about this magic tool.

You ladies have convinced me. My next purchase
will be a BQ, Clarisonic, and I have the cheap microcurrent gadget from ebay. It is very comparable to the Dermal Tone (after sending my Dermal Tone in 3 times for fixining, I gave it up). So my next question for any of you is...Do you feel Nuface
is better than the Dermal tone?

I love, love, love my Derma Wand too, for all the reasons you mentioned. I also love the eye lift I get with it, that is becoming more permanent these days.

In case you haven't seen them yet, here is a link to a great BQ thread;

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=15282

And here's one for NuFace;

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18130

I'd love to know your thoughts on the Victoria Principal Reclaim products. Maybe you'd consider starting a thread with a ::Review::...hint, hint.... Very Happy

Hi
I received my dermawand yesterday and turned it on. However it appears to be dead on all settings except 9. On 9 it makes terrible noise and zaps violently with some small lights going through whole wand.
I contacted the seller and will keep you posted.
After the troubles with the soft laser as well(I had a burst vessel in my eye after the treatment)I feel miserable.

Calm down Diana....You won't know the DW is on, unless it's up to #9, which you'll hear a little buzzing, or you have it making contact with your skin.

Make sure your skin is wet, touch it to your skin, and turn the dial up slowly. I also notice that sometimes in a certain position, it seems to stop working occassionally. Just hold it on an angle like you would a pencil.

See if any of that helps.
