I just purchased some Sebastian Molding Mud from my local drug store, but when I opened it, it looked all cracked (maybe that's normal though), but since the container says it lasts 12 months, I was curious when it was made.

It has the following number printed on it ...

U502319-05F09-A

Does anyone know how to decipher that code? I was wondering if it means it was made in 2005 or maybe would expire in 2009? I'm confused! I want to return it if it IS old product (should know better than to buy salon products at a drug store ... don't they sometimes say you risk getting old product that way?).

I was just curious if anyone knew how to figure out the date from that figure.

Thanks! Smile

Sorry, I don't know how to decipher that code - I believe that some codes are decipherable only to the manufacturer. It may be a good idea to just return it. I have occasionally returned products that I did not like for some reason, whether from a drug or department store. That way you can just buy another product that you will feel good using.

I just checked the expiry dates on all my skincare packages and found it OK.

I then checked the samples and found out that 2 of them are expired long time ago. I recalled that I only got them from a cosmetic/skincare retail store recently.

It would be so great if all skincare products (whether they have preservatives in them or not) were required to have expiration dates on the packages.

I'm wondering if that code is the Lot Number and not the expiry date. Why don't you email the manufacturer and ask them?

I'm with Yen on this one...there might not be even anything remotely related to the date it was manufactured or when it expires in that bunch of numbers...well, not that we can decipher, anyway.
It might be tied back to a lot number or something.

I agree...wouldn't it be great if they all put expiry dates on it? AND to regulate the market better...like all those false claims those companies make.

Le sigh.
