I'm new and have really learned a lot from all of you, so thanks! My skin will soon thank you as well!!

Here's what I've started...

Green Cream Level 6 - every other night

I just received Cellex-C and I figure I'll start that in the morning. Unfortunately the Hydra 5 B-Complex is on back order.

Now, I am not prone to breaking out or anything, but I figure that I should use some type of moisturizer. This is where I'm confused...do I use emu oil in place of a moisturizer?

Thanks!
Renee

Depends. If you mix it with HA, alot of people use it as a moisturiser. But if you have dry skin I think you will find yourself needing some sort of moisturiser under the emu oil.

Try it out first without moisturiser, and if you think your skin is dry, just add it Very Happy

I used it yesterday with some vit c powder mixed into it, and it worked beautifully as a moisturiser on it's own.

I would not recommend Vit C powder mixed into Emu oil. First the Vit C is likly completely ineffective in that mix. Both due to pH, and because of percent and possible penetration issues.

See this link for details on that.
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18491

Vit C is normally irritating, not soothing or healing. So should not be used mixed with the Emu, which you are using to heal, sooth and calm skin.

And Vit C should go on skin first, where Emu normally goes after other products.

Emu oil is used as your moisturizer. Alone or mixed with other oils, or HA if you like that. It can also be mixed in hand with a few drops of water.

It is a very good moisturizer alone. And unless skin is very dry, it is unlikely you would need anything else to moisturize.

But you can also mix it directly with your moisturizer if needed, or layer it under or over your moisturizer depending on how you want it to work for you. (to aid penetration, or simply to moisturize) This of course is dependant on your "type" of moisterizer./ If its a reatment, then mixing may not be a good option. (Renova comes to mind)

Hi Tangal.

I got the idea of the emu - vit c mix from this thread.http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18305&highlight=katee
Do you think it is wrong, and the info needs to be clarified/corrected in that thread, for future readers?

Probably should be clarifyed. Because if it is L-Ascorbic Acid, which is the most effective form of C, based on studies, and the most common "powder" ppl self add - then adding it to a lotion is not going to help.

If it is another version "it may" help, depending on other facters. It certainly has more chance of being effective. Because the pH issue is less involved, though of course strenth and formulation limits still would apply.

My mom, who has extremely dry skin, uses Emu + LB's antioxidant moisturizer, and loves this combo (it is also by Lb Proc. and contains some Emu oil).

I have combo skin and follow Tangal's advice - Emu (mixed with some other oils) + HA , and find it a terrific moisturizer for my skin.

HTH,
Lucy.

Tangal, Do you think that the Ascorbyl tetra-isopalmitate is a suitable type of Vit C to add to emu oil?
If not, what do you think would be a suitable base for it?
Thanks, Tangal.
