I love my emu, but it does have a certain "scent" LOL Has ahyone added maybe an essential oil to cover the scent and make it smell nice??
If so, what and how much? |

I add a tiny drop of Ylang Ylang to get rid of the smell. |

I haven't played with my essential oils in ages -
which ever you decide on, be sure to try a small amount - literally a drop in some of your emu, and see if you have any reaction.
if alls well, you'll probably want to add maybe three to five drops in an ounce of oil.
this is a guestimate - i'm sure there are folks who can give you more definative instructions as to which oils and the proper ratio.
most important, tho is to try the potion first because many are sensitive/reactive to eo's. |

Based on the advice from Tangal I mix Emu Oil with raspberry seed oil, hazelnut oil, jojoba.
I did nit do it for the smell, more for additional properties (astringent, anti-inflam., healing, etc.) and easier penetration.
I do not see a problem in adding a drop or two of EO to Emu oil if it makes it more palatable for you.

I add a drop or two of chamomile to mine, because I love the smell and it's so soothing and calming. |

I bought some essential camomille oil today at the body shop. Its $16/5ml (1 teasp) but it will last a long time. I put 8 drops in a 8oz bottle of emu and it covers any emu scent nicely, without making me smell to herbal LOL. I also dont wanna risk any irritation form using too much, so this works well, giving me some skin calming benefits as well. |

Monica - sometimes I add just one drop of chamomile oil to my pillow before I go to sleep, if I'm tired out and stressed. It seems to me it just melts away tension.
chamomile is wonderful. |

Don't use an essential oil like peppermint though! Nothing irritating hehe that'll just negate the benefits of emu |

Yeah, it does have a certain smell.
I add in just a drop of Lavender EO into about 1/2 oz of Emu. It doesn't smell strongly of lavender, but it helps to cover up the Emu smell |
