Hi,
I just started using PSF HA Serum, and am wondering whether it works the same for all skins?
It does not seem very hydrating to me... Maybe even the opposite... (is that possible?)
It seems to sink in quickly and then make my skin kind of tight, like I just cleansed my face with a too harsh cleanser... Make sense?
I also seem to be going through the bottle extremely quickly!
Anyway... Just wondering if I was doing something wrong.
Also are the effects culmative?
Thanks! |

It seems a bit strange that your skin would feel very dry after the HA unless you are using a cleanser which is really stripping your skin. Perhaps you should contact PSF about the amount you are using and whether they suggest you use a bit less and add another moisturiser over the top. |

I don't think it's strange that your skin should feel dry after HA. It all depends on skin type and climate. HA is 'water-binding' not a lipid/emolliant. It absorbs water into itself and if there isn't any either in your skin or in the air it does feel dry. Only in the most humid of climates can I use HA alone. Everywhere else I need moisturiser on top. You'll find it sucks it right in to your skin after HA. |

HA serum is usually meant to be used under traditional moisturizer, not on its own! |

i don't think it's strange,i feel dry and tight after applying ha serum(no matter which brands),then i turn to my friend for help,he told me i'd better use a barrier cream to lock the aqua.
it seems that ha only could absorb aqua from environment but can't lock the aqua.
i hope everything is clear.

So, should it be used below or on top of moisturizers/oils? Does it matter? |

Under oils and moisturizers...you want it to absorb. |

I had the same issues as you Lucinda. The PSF HA serum would pretty much dry up on my skin, I don't think it provided any extra moisturising properties even when I drenched my face with toner and slathered oil on top.
ETA: I have religiously used an entire bottle of the HA serum, followed by SC's B5 gel no dramatic changes |

Definitely need to apply a moisturizer over the HA. |

Does anybody have any specific HA serum that they recommend? |

The PSF is a very nice and clean formulation, as is the Professional Solutions one. |

Call me picky, but I prefer the PSF one over the Professional Solutions. |

well, picky, I like a finely honed opinion when I'm about to lay out some dosh, ( especially at this time of year when I seem to be laying it out every 5 minutes ), so pickiness is just fine by me.
I can get PSF here, too, cant I, which is good. |

Another good one to check out, Catski, is Candy's. It's very thin tetured and soaks right in. - Not to mention, the price isn't bad. |

So far I've used PSF HA Serum, Skinceuticals B5 Gel and one by Cellex C, though i'm waiting to receive my Candessence one! I found that the PSF HA Serum seemed to dry my skin aswell, even if I used moisturiser on top, and it just didn't make me skin feel that great. So far the Cellex C is my favourite hands down, it feels really hydrating and my skin feels smoother and softer than when using the PSF. |

I read another skin care forum. They suggest to put HA after C serum, and HA after Emu oil. Should I put HA before Emu/Rosehip oil, and HA after Vit C serum?
Thank you. |

Hm...I mix my emu with my HA serum, and definitely the HA should go after your actives i.e. Vit C serum. I would also think the HA should go after the rosehip oil for some reason, but I could be wrong. Because I use my HA+emu as a moisturizer that's the last thing that goes on for me before my sunscreen. |

Suk Han, I'd only put it on once, and I'd either mix it with emu oil in my hand (this is what I do.) or I'd put it on right before or right after emu. I'd probably choose before since it's thinner, but that's just me. |

Thanks Tosca. I'm very keen on the idea of candy's products, they sound so pure. As far as I can see, her international shipping and handling costs comes to $19 - maybe I've got that wrong.. I'm not sure.
HA serum as such is very hard to come by in the UK, at least, I havent found out about it.
Are there any UK /Europeans here who know more about it? |

I used Vit.C serum from PSF which contains lots of HA about two weeks ago. My skin has never been so soft and smooth. But unfortunately, after finished one bottle, I changed to IS Clinicals, which doesn't contain HA, for something new. My skin now is so so dry. Fortunately, I just received my order of HA serum from PSF this morning before Christmas. My skin can be saved now |

Catski, you might want to pm Candy about that shipping cost. I believe she was having some issues with shipping costs being calculated as too high. I know that on my last order, she refunded half of the shipping, and I'm in the US. Her shipping is usually really reasonable, so it's probably an error. |

No success finding it lately Catski, though I did see a pot or two a couple of years ago. By JASON maybe. There's none in Fresh n Wild. |

oh! thanks for that info, Tosca, that's really useful.
If I'd known that a few days ago I would have found it irresistable to buy the Christmas special offer, so I guess I missed out, but I'll mind less when my post christmas cc bill arrives..
Molly, there are a couple of HA serums regularly on ebay, but I'm not at all sure about them, and the only other one I've seen is at Victoria Health, which is quite a good resource, as I think they pre - vet products for you, so it's less hit and miss than just product surfing alone. But it isnt cheap, and there are no samples offered, and no reviews.. |

Couldn't agree more!!! Took me a week to suss this out last month. I now use a really nice serum with it. Although, I have to say HA isn't cheap, so when this bottle finished I'm not sure I will buy it again if I am having to use other products with it. I might just have it injected instead as that is apparantly great for dry areas of skin (restylane i think is one brand??) |
