eyelash implants in Canada?

Hi everyone: I learned about eye lash implatns...yes...implants, a while back from watching a segment on ABC news. I have EXTREMELY thin, short, sparse asian eyelashes. I am always very self-concious about them and I have been wearing false eyelases for the last year or two. I am so tired having curl my lashes, put my Shiseido Masacara Base, Marcelle Healthy Lash Mascara, and then cut up parts of fake eyelashes. On top of all that, all this work tends to weaken my lashes and they fall out, resulting in sections where my lashes are bald. Some people might laugh at my "problem" but I have always wanted normal looking--not even long and luscious--eyelashes.

I currently live in Western Canada and am seriously looking into eyelash implants. These surgeries have not been commonly done here yet, but they are done quite a bit in the states. Has anyone out there had this procedure done in Canada and how do you like the results?

Cheers.

LL--have you looked into lash growth serums like Jan Marini, ardell, dreamlash or revitalash? it's better if you try to grow your own before getting eyelash transplants. the transplanted lash hairs are different texture from your real lashes and grow straight and i have heard they grow at a different rate and have to be trimmed.

there's quite a few discussion threads on those products and eye lash transplants. just do a quick search.

here are some to get you started:

one of our forum members took pictures of her lash growth, very awesome http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=14532&highlight=jan+marini+pics

and one about eye lash transplants http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=17411&highlight=eye+lash+transplants

HTH and welcome to the forum wave

Thanks for you reply.

Actually, I did respond to the link about eyelash implant and I expressed a similar viewpoint that I have now.

I was very tempted to try the JM lash serum, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. All the sites that sell them say that they are out of stock. I do not like purchasing cosmetics on ebay, as I have heard scary stories about fake products.

If anyone could tell me where I can find JM, I would love to try it.

Thanks again for your reply.

Why not just lace your lashes with Rogaine and see what happens while you wait for the product to be restocked?

I don't think Rogaine has been approved for use on the eye, yet. Please do not try that!!

One member here speculated that the Rogaine is the secret ingredient in JM. Another member also posted pictures and commented that she used Rentin A in combination with Rogaine...Damn it, the JM is sold out everywhere!

i agree with babypenguin here, don't put rogaine near your eye. i know wendy had used it in her eyebrows but that is no where near her eyelashes/eyes. i don't remember any members on here using it along their lashlines.

JM will be out for quite some time it seems. i thought JM would be available near christmas but i guess that isn't the plan anymore. revitalash is available on EDS and ardell can be purchased at drugstore.com for about $4. i would try those as alternatives before the transplants!

I would love to see a product that actually made my lashes fuller/longer. I tried Mavala for a while and although it conditioned my lashes, it didn't help them to grow. I am looking for a growth serum and JM sounded like an amazing product; unfortunately, like everyone else has said, it's impossible to find. I really do hope that a product with hair growth chemicals (such as rogaine) becomes approved. For the time being, I won't put rogaine in my eyes.

Has anyone tried Revita Lash with some success? It also claims to have a "secret" ingredient like JM. Anythoughts?

Retin A on eyelashes? That sounds like a very bad idea!
