This thread might help: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=13821&

What worked for me:
1) prescription antibiotic topical Sulfacet-R
2) IS Clinical Active Serum
3) supplements: Omega 3-6-9, zinc, b-complex, in addition to daily multivite.

Also, cutting down on refined sugar around that time.

for a gentle leave on exfoliator -
i like exfol serum (a skin biology product), 2% Salicylic Acid, 3.2 pH. the serum is in a water/aloe base.

if you need something with slightly more punch, a 2, or 5% bha (1.9 ph) should provide this. this product does contain some alcohol - i personally use it more for spot treat.

of the two - I would try the exfol serum first. it's so user friendly.

imho you don't have to go to any stronger %, and bha's work well to clean pores.

ETA:
if you have scarring from these pimples, you may want to incorporate a copper product. these take some time, but work well with an exfoliator (ex. bha) to diminish scarring.

if it's just an occasional, or hormonal pimple with no scarring - a dab of the exfol should do ya.

I'm the same, CountE.

It doesnt help that it's the one time of the month when I'm likely to eat chocolate, also.

I'd love to know how to fade the mark left behind, and I have a more or less permanent clutch of marks on my right jaw. Sad

Thanks. That link is quite helpful. a good start for me in this fourm.
Would you please give a example about 2) IS Clinical Active Serum?
For the supplements, I heard evening oil campules really work for that. Any comments?

lol... you mean a gp like a general practitioner - a doctor?? ... not even close.
unless gp means something else??

I purchase these, don't make 'em.

the % and ph of the product gives you an idea of how strong it is on the skin (aka free acid value).
a 2% product @ ph 3.2 (exfol) is a gentler product than the 2% @ 1.9.
i think this becomes more important with higher % products.
if two products were listed at 30%, the product that had the lower ph would be stronger.
I hope that makes a little sense.

there's a great page on diana yvonees website that explains acids and free acid value.
if your interested, it's here:

skin biology sells a lot of copper peptide products, emu oil, exfol and lac/sal (exfoliators).
if you're into information their website is worth a look-see. It explains both with words and visually the methods and products they suggest for skin renewal and scar reduction.

www.skinbiology.com

've also purchased the exfol here:
www.dianayvonne.com

hope this helps you

Sure, you could try evening primrose oil capsules, a great source of Omega-6, which is anti-inflammatory.

IS Clinical is a BHA/AHA serum with the percentages: of glycolic (8%), salicylic (2%), lactic (2%), kojic (2%). I took a break from it to try other brands with with separate SA and GA (Paula's Choice and PTR) and found that they don't control my acne as well as the IS Clinical serum.

MD skincare AHA/BHA everyday peels helped me a lot. I even changed my profile from "prone to breakouts once a month" to just "combination" skin. Smile
