I'm using hydroquinone in conjunction with photofacial to treat some hyperpigmentation from a laser treatment. I've noticed some fading. I was wondering if the results will gradually fade and regress to the hyperpigmented spots if i stop using the hydroquinone |

I have used hydroquinone a few times for the 12 week durations and I have used them in conjunction with blue light therapy etc. (not required, but I was using it anyway).
I do believe that as long as you are using an SPF of 30 or higher on your face after you've done your 12 week regiment or when you've decided you've had enough, they should not revert back. However, in light of recent studies showing that they think it's another carcinogen (what isn't these days?), I may suggest finding a more natural product that is a skin lightener. I know skinceuticals has one but I am sure there are others, I just forget (cellex-c, vitamin C is a good one that I have noticed helps lighten my dark spots significantly).
Hope this helps answer your question. |

You know it's really hard to answer this question or any queston similiar to it because skin is so subjective. It would help if we could see just how bad your hyperpigmentation is. I will tell you this based upon my own experience with hydroquinone. You MUST wear a very stable sunscreen that has both UVA and UVB protection daily or your hyperpigmentation will return. I do think that some type of lightening product will have to be used in lieu of hydroquine. There are many choices in this area. Also many people who use Obagi find themselves going on "maintenence" that includes using Blender which has hydroquinone in it. I hope I haven't confused you Good luck!! |

I have been using hydroquinone 4% cream for about 2 months. My skin has bad acne and I would like to stop the hydroquinone and use some benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid to help clear up the bacteria, but I heard that hydroquinone and these things can be bad together. Does anyone know long should I wait before I can start using other acne medication? |

I think it depends on the person. I had a bad experience with hyperpigmentation from hydroquinone that took a significant time to get rid of. Wear high SPF suntan lotion. I personally will never use hydroquinone products again (I have very light skin that tans easily). |
