A laser treatment I just had recently left me with lots of red and light brown spots. The intent for undergoing the laser is to get rid of some spots on my face but now it left far more and obvious marks. Is there anything I can do to reverse the damage? |

What kind of laser treatment did you have? Erbium, C02, etc.... How long has it been since you've had it? I've had C02 laser twice, and recovered nicely. However, I must say, it's not a quick recovery visually. The redness stayed with me for six months.
As for the brown and red spots you have, I am wondering if it's just the scabbing and/or peeling. But I don't know how long ago you've had the laser. If you have had it recently, DO NOT PICK the scabs. This will cause scarring! |

Don't panic - this is what is supposed to happen!! The laser treatment "brings out" all the hyperpigmentation and you may also have some red marks and bruising which will eventually fade. After about 1 week to 10 days the brown patches will dry up and fall off - but DON'T PICK THEM - let them fall off naturally.
My daughter and I both had IPL last Friday and we both look a real mess so I know how you feel. But be patient - in about a week's time you'll have beautiful clear skin. |

Obaji Active is a good lotion or Kinerase. Both were given to me as samples by my derm to use after IPL's. |

Thank you all for the kind replies. I feel a little less panic after reading your posts. I don't actually know what kind of laser I had. I know this sounds very stupid. I had it done while I was traveling back to China and it is much cheaper there to get laser treatment. But of course they translate the name of lasers into Chinese so I have no clue what it is in English.
I had the laser about two months agao and the scabs are already falled off. Or I should say some of them fell off on their own and some of them fell off with my help. Yes, I picked some of them because I got impatient by the end. Fortunately no scars are left. But the red and brown marks are alreay killing me. While the holiday is coming I have no other choice but to put on heavy foundation when I go to parties.
Will Vitamin C serum help in my case? |

I would use emu oil to help with healing of the scabs. Once they are healed...I'd also use a very little of the cp serum. |

I believe emu oil slows healing in the first 48 hours, after that it helps. I would use copper peptides. |

CP serum? I have seen it mentioned a lot in this forum but haven't tried it myself. How does it help exactly? Which brand is a good one to get? |

I second the emu oil suggestion. |

dealated- I didn't know you shouldn't use emu oil during the first 48 hrs. I'm scheduled for my third, and last photodynamic facial ( with levulan) right after New Years Day. What should I use during that first 48 hrs? One thing I learned last time, was to use the baby q-also after the first 48 hrs, to help speed the healing. It really did help- the redness decreased dramatically within 12 hrs after using it- now, it could have been that my skin was ready to calm down, but I think it helped. Like many others with no will power- I've just upgraded to the Quasar SP. I'm hoping it will prolong and even increase the improvements I've gotten in my skin tone so far. I've got to tell you, I've learned so much from everyone on this site- it's been fantastic ( and....a little expensive) Robin |
