Just come back from shopping today. It was so hard to find a parking space at the Shopping Mall. I went there at 10am this morning and waited for 20 minutes to park the car.
It is interesting to know how much you've spent today. I only spent around C$50.00 on clothing. How about you? |

Nothing. I just didn't have the patience to wait to get into most of the stores. |

Yen, you are right. I have no patience too. That's why I spent not much as I expected. |

I'm waiting for this weekend to head out, watch me in the car with road rage trying to find a space. Waiting in line for 40 min to return a shirt which they don't have in another size, can't wait! |

BB2000, I am Canadian, but now live in the states. I hate that they don't have Boxing Day here. It's so good to have one day to get everything organized after Christmas. There are six people here in my office of 100. Most people took the week off. |

Yen, seriously, though we don't have this in the states, the malls are going to be disgusting this weekend. Watch me fight over that last black cashmere sweater in size small with some lady at the store. I have no shame in my game. |

I just got back from shopping and didn't buy a thing. I really tried, but just couldn't find anything that I *had* to have. |

I don't have the patience to go out Boxing Day. I live just two blocks from the mall, and drove past there today on our way to the grocery store. It was PACKED and the drive lane into the mall was PACKED ... it was insane!!! I think I would be a very cranky girl if I tried to do some shopping today in the mall.

Candy8865 ... I always thought Boxing Day started way back when, when the rich would "box up" a gift for the peasants working their land, and give it to them after Christmas? Maybe I'm TOTALLY off base, but I've always thought that's where the term came from. Does anyone know the correct definition? I might be totally wrong.
And in Canada, it's now known as the day after Christmas, when there are tons of amazing "Boxing Day" sales (and general craziness in the malls). |

c4ward,
My sister also lives in the States and she said the big sale day every year is the day after Thanksgiving Day. Is it true? |

The day after Thanksgiving is called the biggest shopping day of the year. Stores open early, sales galore. I've known people who've been at the doors at 6 am!! It's only for the bravest and most patient. Needless to say, I stay home, lol.
The day after Christmas is when everything holiday related goes on sale too. Wrapping paper, gifts bags, decorations are already marked 50% off at the 2 stores I went to today. Which works out great for me as we celebrate Serbian Christmas (also known as 3 Kings Day) at my fathers on 07 January. I get awesome gifts for even better prices! |

I'm not c4ward, but can say that yes, that is true! Its often referred to as "Black Friday" (from Wikipedia: "Black Friday (shopping), the day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States, the first shopping day of the Christmas season and one of the busiest shopping days of the year.") It is the official start of the Christmas shopping rush.
However, the day after Christmas (Boxing Day, though we don't refer to it as that) is also a pretty heavy shopping day - people go out with money they got at Christmas to shop the sales! |

I left work a little early to pick my daughter up at the mall with all good intentions of waiting for her in the car, but I heard the shoe dept. calling my name! I ended up getting a pair of black suede boots...half off retail price plus an extra 15% off with coupon (I clipped the night before, just in case ) |

Post Christmas sales (starts Boxing Day) are big in Australia. I went shopping yesterday, had to get up early to get parking and there were huge crowds/queues in some stores but I did save alot of money! |

I spent 25CAD - things really weren't that cheap at all, nothing you can't buy later on as the sales are usually deemed "Boxing WEEK sales". ...I grew up learning that Boxing Day was the day you opened your presents - wow I must live on another planet! |

Today when I was preparing to pay for the lugguage at the department store, I was told by the SA that there was no extra diccount on it.
My goodness, I have spent 15 minutes to line up at the counter. What a waste of time:
In the future I have to read the flyer first. |

The sales here are manic right now - just got home from fighting my way through the crowds - ughh!!! I only wanted to buy some food too - couldn't even face waiting in line for any sale bargains . |

Yes this is true, you should see it. People line up the night before to the major stores such as Walmart and Target for certain limited items that go on sale. |
