So I've been using mandelic acid every night for a month (I brought it from Garden of Wisdom). I have used sunscreen and anyway i have little if any sunlight contact. It's great for cleaning up acne scar, however I've noticed my complexion has darkened (espically my forehead). Would it be the effect of using mandelic 10% every night? |

hi love,
that's pretty wierd; when i used mama lotion a couple of times per week last year, it made my complexion a little red and peeling, but no darkened. From what I understand, it is supposed to help with dark spots, not cause them.
I would think it is supposed to have the opposite effect.

You use it every night? Isn't it overdrying for you? I use it maybe 3 times a week.
I haven't noticed any darkening of the skin at all. |

aussi girl,
mandelic acid is an exfoliating acid, and mama lotion has mandelic and malic acids, one of which is derived from, i believe, almonds!
It is a pretty heavy-duty exfoliator, the strongest I've ever used. Also, it is purported to be very effective for those who have darker complexions and suffer from darkened acne spots.

Ive been using it for about 2 weeks now and I havent had any problems with darkening or irritation. You might want to look into the formulation of the MA you are using. IMO the fewer ingredients the better. I passed on GOW b/c I wasnt thrilled with some of their ingred. I use the 10% fromwww.skincarecentral.com . Ive been THRILLED with the results! |

Hi, I use the GOW 15% alcohol free for the past 2 weeks. I bought as a sample and use everyother day or night depending on my weird schedule. I had used the Diana Yvonne mandelic acid w/ alcohol, I think it was 10%-it was too drying. I really like the gow's product and no it doesn't make my skin more dull, just the opposite, better texture and clarity which for me translates into brighter skin. Good luck. |

I was not impressed with GOW mandelic acid, did not as much for me. I am using 10% mandelic acid from DY, and love the results. I only use it 2 times a week, but it does help a lot with the complexion. Now I am using the BHA/AHA combo fromwww.ifeelpretty.com and also love the results - smoother, clearer, more translucent complexion.
I think using it every day is way too much.
HTH,
Lucy. |

I use it everyday, sometimes twice a day on really congested areas. I havent gotten any irritation, peeling, etc. I think it depends on your skin type, mine is very resilient. |

I've been using Mandelic acid every morning for almost 2 weeks. Can't say that I notice a huge difference.
I have heard people say that it leaves a "peachy tone" to their skin. I have noticed this a couple of times but figured it was the acid removing my sunless tanner. |

I use the mandelic acid from skincarecentral and am happy with it. From what I remember, there are a couple of things Dr. P. was initially against, but then changed his mind. |
