Hi, because of health reasons, I've decided to try and buy some kind of organic natural thickener like cellulose gum or xanthum gum to add to Aloe Vera juice to make a gel, and I've bought Xanthum gum before but it wasn't organic and gave me asthma, etc.
To those of you who make some of your own skincare and are into Organic/natural, do you know where I can buy the purest Xanthum gum or other kind of "gum" thickener?
I may want some other kind of gum because I don't know if I love Xanthum gum on my face or not. i love Cellulose gum but I don't know if they have "Organic" or not.
I guess my first choice would be cellulose gum if I can find organic and pure , but then I think it's more difficult to blend cellulose gum into liquids than it is to blend xanthum gum |

You can also try dehydrated soy lecithin which can also be an organic source and does not form a film like xantham gum. But another issue with these plant based thickeners is that, even if they are certified organic, the actual process by which they are derived may be contaminated by chemicals.
I just googled "organic lecithin powder" and many results point to a brand called HealthForce. I think most health stores carry some sort of natural brand of xantham and cellulose gum.

Thank you "miranets" for the insight. I was wondering if the "gums" were extracted using solvents or chemicals, so thanks for letting me know.
It's so difficult to find pure ingredients to purchase.
I'll look into the ingredient you mentioned.
I wonder if there are any thickeners that are extracted using a "clean" non-synthetic process. If anyone knows please let me know, thanks. |
