But in a good way!
A little background: I had chemo, lost all hairs. My lashes that I had always been asked if they were real, came back average. My brows didn't come back, except for a few.
I've been using CK Lush Lash Growth serum on one eyes' lashes, and JM on the other. This post is not to review those products, which will be done appropriately, and when I'm ready. It's been 7 weeks. Maybe 2 weeks ago, I decided to start using CKLL on my brows. A few days ago, Carrie sent me info on dyeing my brows. I went to Sally's and purchased the Charms gel as she instructed, and the little mascara wands for applying it. Well, I have never dyed my brows or lashes. Never even thought of it, except my hairdresser does my brows when I have my hair colored. My hair is reddish brown, and I got Medium Brown color for my brows. I did it last night, and could NOT believe how many hairs I actually have!!! This is so promising, using CKLL on my brows, I am ecstatic. And it's only been a couple weeks! In the shower this morning, I could see my brows in the mirror across the room! I could just about scream, I am so thrilled.
I just want to tell people who might be shy about dyeing their brows, it was an absolute cinch. Why I waited so long is beyond me. To top things off, Carrie is going to send me a sample of 1000 hour lash tint, and I have a feeling I might just fall over when I see the results. Guess I'll be breaking out the Kleenex again, for the tears of joy.
Carrie has made such a lovely difference in how I see that area which frames my pretty eyes. I no longer think about how it "used to be" so great before chemo. What a relief to not see it that way anymore. Thanks a zillion, Carrie. |

Cedar:
Hope your are feeling well and you are on the road to recovery! That is such a nice post you wrote about CareKate. I can't wait to try her Lush Lash! She has made many wonderful contributions to this forum and is such a wealth of information!
About the eyebrows, I have very blonde, if not white, eyebrows which cannot be seen. About 2 months ago, I finally decided to try "eyebrow tinting" at the salon that does my hair. Wow, is right! The difference having eyebrows makes and it really does make your eyes stand out. I believe they used a brownish color on me. So, now I will add the eyebrow tinting to my regular visit to the salon. I would like to do the "eyelash tinting" (my eyelashes are also blonde) but my eyelashes right now are very sparse and it would not be worth it. I am waiting for CareKate's Lush Lash to be available for purchase, then I will try the eyelash tinting too! |

How long does the tint last?
I recently went brunette for the first time in 20 odd years (was blond before) and I feel my brows are too light now. I might give that a go. |

I want to thank everyone very much for the well wishes. I didn't want to make the chemo the point of my post, but I think I will add: I am 5 years out from 9 months of treatment and doing great. I had Xtreme chemo, lost all fingernails and some toenails. I live on a daily pill.
I did the only marathon of my life 2 years ago. I worked hard and trained for 10 months; it was a breeze.
I am 51 now. Here is a pic of me, with brows courtesy of Chanel makeup, and lashes courtesy of Lancome Faux Cils primer and Lancome Hypnose mascara. Hope the picture works, first time I've tried. Thanks everyone. I am very grateful for my life. Be sure to do self breast exam and never underestimate the power of your own human touch. The mammogram did not pick up my breast cancer.

I'm with Katee...what gorgeous red hair you have, and such pretty eyes! Congrats on the marathon, too...I'd need to ride in a golf cart to complete one of those!

*wiping tears*...what a heartfelt story you've lived thru. We forget all these products aren't just for vaniety, but for getting ourselves back. Most of us walk thru life never going thru (thank God) what you have! How wonderful that your lashes and brows are on the mend, you look absolutely beautiful and I agree, what fab hair and BLUE eyes you have!!!!! From your picture, what you've gone thru def does not show on ur face, brows, lashes or hair!!! |

I kept trying to decide last night if I should post this, and which forum to post on, cuz I didn't want the story to be about my battle, just about my hair issues. But I thought the background was relevent to the info I wanted to share. I'll add my CKLL review onto the thread in the Product review forum, in a month or so. I guess my point is that the dye helped pick up so many hairs that I didn't even know CKLL had encouraged to grow. It was such an easy thing to do, and I highly recommend it. Not sure how long the results last, but I'll bet I'd only need maybe one touchup between hair colorings, when I have them done anyway. The touchup will be to pick up new hairs, mostly, and to cover anticipated fading.
My battle was/is just my battle. We all have our battles, and we are all capable of great things. Never underestimate the power of the mind. When I was diagnosed, all I knew was: you die. Cuz my Mom died at 62 within 6 months of her diagnosis. There are so many advances so often now! I was part of a clinical trial and was able to help science learn more. As a plus, my group has had less recurrence. I could go on and on, but I want to apologize if I should not have posted this here. I don't like to post off topic.
Thank you, everyone. |
