I was watching the Today Show this morning as usual and found this info very interesting/useful. The "expert" said that we should try to get all antioxidents from food and not a supplements. Supposedly they are more effective and beneficial to the skin this way. She also said that that applied topically and eaten, Vit C can reduce the chance of a sunburn and of course give skin that glow. She did warn aginst high doses of Vit E, stating that it could keep wounds from healing as fast and cause excess brusing. Hope you Ladies find this useful! Very Happy

mmmm,

today i've already had yogurt with wildblueberries, cinnamon, and honey, then i had a coeur au fondant (basically chocolate cake melting inside), a ham and cheese and artichoke sandwich, and I'm dying for some lasagna!

some days you have to give in to cravings...

I agree, I *always* give into my cravings! It keeps me sane, I do try to limit my portions of no-no food...except for the entire bag of oreos I ate last night. Anxious

The entire bag?! Laughing Sounds like something I would have done before my NY's resolution, which I'm happy to say is going pretty well so far! Very Happy

Yes, I am aware that eating healthy foods instead of taking vitamins is a lot better for you overall.
There are times when I do take Vit. C (the pills) because I need that extra boost. It does wonders for my skin also. And, I love blueberries, berries in general. Very Happy

That's the beauty of living in Paris--I didn't make the lasagna, I bought it from a happy italian man! There are people selling delicious food everywhere around here... It's hard to resist!

Wow, seeing how much nutrition was in artichoke hearts made me glad I added them to my salad last night!!

Has anyone tried the smoothie recipe in the first link? Looks interesting...

Avalange - Off topic but you're so lucky living in Paris! I'm a Francophile living in Chicago (which I love Smile ) but if I could live anywhere else it would be Paris. It's hard to find a BAD meal there!

Liz,

I did yesterday, except I used organic vanilla yogurt and subed the sugar for honey. It was really good. You could use this shake in place of breakfast and its enough to fill you up. DH and I make smoothies in the morning anyway but this variation was nice.

Thanks for the info, Vonstella.

re smoothies - I just got a little blender specially for smoothies, and my NY resolution is to make healthy smoothies for breakfast, so any fave recipes would be gratefully received!

Im a huge fan of morning smoothies, we never have an exact recipie, we just "eye" measurements and interchange ingred. A few things we keep on hand:

soy milk
organic apple juice
organic orange juice
organic vanilla yogurt
frozen organic strawberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches, kiwi, etc.
organic honey
organic wheat germ

Here is what I make:

1 cup soy milk
1 good squeeze of honey
2 bananas
4 tablespoons wheat germ

Then I add a dash of either juice for extra sweetness and then throw in about one cup each of 2 or 3 of the frozen fruits that strike my fancy at the moment, blend and serve. This usually makes about 3 good size servings.

Mmmmmmmmmm good..... Very Happy
