i'm not sure if this is where reverse lipliner is supposed to come in but i would like to find some product either pencil or powder that when applied outside the upper lipline(but right on the edge of the lip) would enhance the shape without adding colour...maybe like an illuminating product which would be subtly "pearly" or "glowy" just to pick up the lip shape from lighting from different angles.
Does anyone know what i'm talking about? |

I think Guerlain has a product called the 'cupoidon' which is in the Divinora lip pencil line that is supposed to do something to this effect. |

I use any ol' powder highlighter(b/c Im oily and it sticks)to draw attention to my cupids bow. I just dont extend it too far from the "peaks".
Reverse lipliner is to keep lipstick from feathering/bleeding into lip lines if Im remembering correctly. |

Before I had a problem with castor oil, I used to looooove Joey New York's lip perks pencil. It's a double-ended lip pencil (that's coffee-scented--- mmmm!!!!), and one end is a lip gloss, and the other end is a coordinating highlighter, perfect for accenting the cupid's bow. It's also enhanced with a lip plumper, so it makes your lips seems fuller too. My favorite shade was cafe americana--- it's a bronze gloss with a gold highlighter. Sometimes I even used the highlighter on its own.^-^ HTH! |

It sounds like Cupidon is exactly what you're describing--it's a pale, pearly color with the barest hint of "fleshy" pinky peach. It's quite subtle and is expressly designed to highlight your cupid's bow. |

I third Cupidon. It's a great product. Wish there were a knock-off version though. |

This stuff sounds pretty awesome! I use two sticks from Benefit to draw light to my cupid's bow, and to sort of highlight my lips without using a traditional lipliner. They are Benefit's "It Stick" and "Eye Bright"...The Eye Bright is advertised for use around the eyes but I find it to be a jewel blended above my lipline...you have to be paler than pale though (call me Casper)..otherwise it will look ridiculous!

Yes, I am familiar with this and I have purchased last summer Cargo lip pencil. I loved it at first but at a glance in the mirror, I unexpectantly discovered that there is a white look lined around my lips! I did not like the fake look so I did not repurchase. |

Hi Rosyface!
I use a thick eyeliner brush and just a tiny bit of a light beige moderate shimmer eyeshadow...after foundation, before lip colors and powder if you wear it. If your screen name is descriptive of your coloring, a pinkish or peachy tone might work better.
I've been doing this for years and learned it from a makeup artist who did film work in LA. It's important to experiment with different shades of shadow to find one that compliments your unique skin tones--some of us look best in pinkish, others in beigy colors--and blend well. Evening looks and young gals can use a bit more shimmer!
I'm sure a highlighter/illuminating product would work just as well! I can never get liquid highlighters to work for me because my foundation smudges. |

hi everybody, i think i've found a cheap solution to my question. I swiped my sisters lipliner because it's a very pale shimmery colour called "Hot Honey" from Annabelle.
It actually is quite close to my bare lip colour with a shimmer to it so i just use my lip balm and then faintly outline just outside the cupids bow and about 3/4 down the length of my top lip.
The colour is not visible against my lips and i've been catching glimpses of myself in mirrors over the weekend and all i can see is that the shape of my top lip is more defined and visible but not in a 'wearing makeup' kind of way but just a 'wow, my lip is fuller than it used to be' kind of way.
Annabelle is a pretty cheap brand here in Canada and i'm pretty happy that this was so easy to solve. I'm keeping a 'wish-list' of your recommendations so that i can 'play' later too. You can never have too much fun can you!
Keep the suggestions coming if you like, i never get bored of all the great ideas everybody shares here.

BTW, this is not as attractive as it may sound, . I have permanent flushing from bad episodes of roseacea about 4-5 years ago. I try whatever i can to disguise it. My MMU seems to do a decent job so, i'm happy with it. As far as the skintone goes, without the flush, i think i'm pretty neutral, my neutral category MMU matches pretty closely although the staying power could use some work.
I would love to have the coloring that would just flush beautifully in the cold and then a pretty blush in summer but i seem to have the blothy, angry flush that looks like i'm about to have a stroke....oh well, shrug.... |

I just bought this last night after reading your post- I love it! And I would never have bought this color if I you hadn't talked about it.
It make my lips look more defined as well. It is a really nice color with a nice shimmer and my coloring is probably way different than yours rosy face- I'm a golden olive.
Thanks for the tip!!! |
