You can do a "super search" on EDS using google.
In the search field enter the key words you want to look up, for instance, you could put in "Candessence eye'll be seeing you oil" (without the ") then hit space. After that type in:
site:www.essentialdayspa.com/forum
so it will look like this in the search field:
Candessence eye'll be seeing you oil site:www.essentialdayspa.com/forum
It's a great way to search any message board, and you don't even have to go to the site. |

To get more focused results using the EDS search function...
Click Search on the top right of the screen. Once there, in the Search for Keywords field, type in:
candessence eye'll be seeing you oil
On the bottom left under Display Results, select Posts then on the bottom right under Return, select All Available.
Voila! |

people also start a new thread because they cannot be bothered searching through the threads for the info they want.
I agree it's really irritating loads of threads about the same thing but I think the only way to stop it, is to shoot the guilty. |

Another tip that might be useful to new members... If you would like to find a post by a specific person, you could:
Use the Search function, and then in the Search for Author field, add the person's name
OR
Click on "profile" to the left of "pm" under the member's name (as seen when viewing a post), then "Find all posts by so-and-so".
It's really helpful if you remember reading something on the forum and can't remember "where" but do remember "who". |

I think we should sticky ALL the threads that talk about searching first. LOL I too am getting so sick of seeing the same topic discussed in different threads over and over and over again. Especially when they are started within days of each other and sometimes only just hours. I mean c'mon people, a little common sense and common courtesy please. But don't mind me; I'm just tired and irritated and felt like a good rant was in order. Carry on.... |

Katee...you posted what most have wanted to say! I posted that search tip in google in Mabsy's sticky on the Product Review but immediately thought it should be posted her as well.
Bravo! |

I definitely think this seems to be a problem in the reviews forum too. I'm sure there are probably hundreds of different review threads on the same product!
I agree this should be a sticky |

Agree, agree, agree... use SEARCH will ya
And if I may be so bold as to suggest that those mammoth threads be culled to remove the "Me too" "<insert smiley>" responses
Which begs another question - is Mabsy the only Mod on this forum? |

Need help. I've been searching this am for over an hour (in lieu of coffee...big mistake). Is it possible for someone to copy and paste all the info here as an example (from the actual google site)? Then I could save it on my desktop and just change the info I need to search for a particular product. Thanks. I thought I had this figured out before but obviously not. |

When I first joined this forum. I did a lot of search too and it's really time consuming. Also, a lot of time, people's problem might sound similar but the different on age, skin type, etc, thus, sometimes the thread might need more specific replies.
I hope people don't get upset over newcomers or redundant questions. After all, it's about skincare and beauty product, if you all stressed out, it will just make all your effort to keep young disappeared. |

The EDS Search is a waste of time and there are a whole lot of new folks on here, that have a question but may not have time to scan pages and pages to see if their subject has already been discussed. I understand the complaint of Senior forum members who are familiar with all the subjects that have been talked about and don't like sifting through redundant posts...but for a whole bunch of us, those posts are still interesting to read and respond to, even if it's old news to a lot of you. Maybe I have misunderstood the purpose of this forum. I thought it was a place to give folks a chance to ask a valid question and get responses, regardless of whether or not its been discussed in the past. It seems to me, that even with redundant posts, folks still want to respond. If you're bothered by the subject coming up again, maybe you can overlook it. So what if you end up going to page 2,3 or 4 to read recent posts?...its just an extra couple keyboard clicks. Hey, get some perspective. There are a lot of things going on in this sad world to get upset about...this shouldn't be one of them! |
