I've tried a lot of things with very limited success. I make my own shampoo now and add blackstrap molasses to it rather than the honey I used to add. Hair growth and glossiness is improving daily.

If you don't want to make your own shampoo from scratch, get a nice gentle shampoo and add a couple of tablespoons of the molasses to the bottle. Your hair will thank you.

Someone just reviewed Carekate's Rosemary Hair Growth Accelerator, which helps with hair loss.

Hey Clearskin,

In case this is useful, I just ran across this older post from a forum member on regenerating hair growth using a sulphur oil topical. I haven't had a chance to read it, but I notice there is even a link to progress photos...

Hi there,

I've had a lot of good suggestions here:

http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=16770&highlight=help

BAsically, I've used Nioxin, which was ok but nothing amazing.

I'd really recommend Carekate's Rosemary Hair Growth Accelerator Oil Treatment.

And also, supplements. I use GNC Hair, Skin and Nails for Women.

Good luck

hi, are you a girl or boy?

If for men type hair loss, the only one I could recommend is Phyto. Buy its shampoo, treatment and supplement. I am still watching the result, ^_^

Molasses has sulphur and a lot of great nutrients and sugars that your skin needs. If I wasn't so lazy I'd do CareKate's recipe. Maybe I should just buy it from her. But, I've found that replacing blackstrap molasses for honey in my shampoo recipe has really made a big difference with my hair re-growth efforts.

Ari,

would it be possible to obtain the recipe for your shampoo?

TIA,
Lucy.

Hi, Lucy. Actually, Katee posted it on this forum, already. The thread is "Katee's Shampoo variations." Just do a search on "shampoo" with "katee" as author. I've been using that recipe for about 8-9 months and really love it for the volume, bounce and shine. But, because I wanted to realllly address my thinning hair, I substituted the molasses for the honey about 3 weeks ago and I'm seeing new hair beginning to sprout already. (I was using Skinactives' Hair Growth Serum but seemed to have hit a plateau.)

Thanks, I found it and will give it a try.

I have some thinning on the top of my head (front part), and I hate it.

Thanks a lot,
Lucy.

You're welcome, Lucy. Molasses is full of B vitamins. Are you taking a B supplement? If not, that could help, too.

Thanks, Ari.

I do indeed take B vitamins (a B complex actually).

Thanks again for the help,
Lucy.

That's a great tip, Arielle, even just to keep hair healthy! Thanks, I am going to try that. Did it take long to notice results?

3-4 weeks to start seeing some stubble. Seems to grow in patches at first. I'll watch it a while and let you know how well it begins to fill in.

My favorite shampoo is Bain Prevention by Kerastase. It's extra gentle and made to prevent hair loss. I also still use 2x/year Kerastase's Aminexil - ampoules with nutrients to prevent seasonal shedding.

Phytocyane is also good and I've used the ampoules too.

AND, I use Carekate's Rosemary Hair Serum.

The past week I've also been using SAS sea kelp bioferment mixed with hair serum as a leave-in and Carekate's dry shampoo. My (usual) super fine hair has been thick but healthy (not crunchy or flat) ALL WEEK LONG! Yup, I washed my hair Monday night ... used the products during the week ... then finally decided to wash on Sunday. My hair is much happier without the frequent shampooing!

There's no shampoo that you can conclude to use by just hearing the name. Selecting the proper shampoo from the thousand present in the market these days is a real big challenge. You need to analyze on your own. Select something that is mild and less foaming.

Hi, My hair has been thinning on top and at the hairline for about 4 years now. Also, my scalp itched like crazy there. I read about using a shampoo with tar to help dry, itchy scalp (Ive never had dandruff) and improve the condition of your hair. I bought CVS Therapeutic Shampoo Original Formula Coal Tar. Well, WOWEE! After the first shampoo I could tell a big difference. My hair was full and very shiny. My scalp was less itchy. With continued use, my scalp barely itches at all anymore. My hair is bouncy and looks healthy. Can't believe it, but it's true.
Now, I do have a complaint. It stinks! For me, it's worth the unpleasant smell.
Oh, I need to tell you I don't know that my hair is actually thicker, but it sure looks better! Very Happy

Huh??? I find this thread redudant, only because there is no shampoo that will prevent hair loss. Come on! Hair is dead. You will lose up to 100 hairs a day anyway.

For thinning hair on top I've been using Joan Rivers hair powder. The product colors the part on your scalp to take that whiteness away, thus giving the "illusion of thicker hair". It really is a wonderful product and worth the money.

My hairdresser also suggested Nioxion. She says it will stimulate the scalp and possibly help hair grow. And if it does, it will be minimal. Although she did say that it will help keep the hair you have.
