If so what and could you tell me if you like the results. I have a slight gap in my front teeth and although it's not that visible to the eye or in pictures it bugs the crap out of me! Mad

I would probably only need a filler for it. Also, for some reason my teeth aren't centered. When one smiles that little nook one the lips should align in between the two front teeth, but my don't, they're not crooked, but just not centered, they're slightly to the left. When I smile it looks a tad off if you know what I mean. Does anyone know if I can fix this without getting brace like contraption on my teeth?

Hi Ariesextreme - I have porcelian veneers on my front teeth..they look fantastic - I had a slight overlap of the two front teeth..but no more..I am pretty certain that you will be able to change the look of your smile without having to endure any "contraptions" on your teeth! My whole procedure was painless....I had mine done about 15 years ago and they are still as good as gold!

Another vote for porcelain veneers! Smile They can correct a multitude of problems. I've had mine for 18 years without any problems and they still look great.

Don't those go on top of your teeth? Is this where they sand down your teeth to stubs and place these on top of them, or am I thinking of some other procedure.

Yes, they go on top of your teeth. I don't think that they sand them down to stubs, though. The veneers are very thin and just sit on the front surface of the tooth; they're not like porcelain crowns which cover the whole tooth.

I'm with Tam....I couldn't believe that my kind of overlapping toothy smile could be fixed without drills!! It is just amazing!!

The if that's the case even with the veneers they'd be a little off center still since my base is off center. I don't need to go the extreme of having veneers, my teeth are perfectly fine, just off center is all Confused

I may have to consult a dentist..I hate going to the dentist though. Isn't it a bit pricey, highly doubt insurance will cover this as they'll see it as cosmetic surgery.

Veneers can correct that. Try searching for for before and after pics with veneers. I've seen some amazing pics that I thought had to be the result of braces, but it was veneers only.

I had adult orthodontic treatment. The whole course of treatment lasted 2 1/2 years but I can wholeheartedly say that it was £££ well spent.

I also had my teeth whitened professionally after I had finished my ortho treatment.. to sort of complete the look !

The whitening effects were estimated to last up to 3 years maximum, that was 6 years ago and my teeth still look pretty white Smile

They are expensive. I'm not sure, but I think that they run about $800 a tooth. I could be wrong, so just call a couple of dentists to find out for sure.

what?!?!?! For crying out loud! I could just get it on my front two teeth correct? Wonder if it'll look weird just to have the front two done.

I could be way off, so please check. Smile

I wouldn't look weird, because the color would be matched to your tooth color; it wouldn't be noticeable at all. BUT, if you are thinking of whitening your teeth, do it before veneers, because you can't do it after as the veneer color is permanent and can't be lightened.

CG,

Thank you for the link! Very helpful. Okay I'll just get the gap filled or get invisiline or something. Better than paying the amount a new car would cost for fake teeth..eesh!

A good cosmetic dentist can do wonders with your smile. You need to be sure of the work and reputation of the cosmetic dentist you pick. A good cosmetic dentist is like an artist.

To find a qualified dentist or a dentist who does good aesthetic / cosmetic dental work:

Check with dental schools, other dental specialists, and dental societies for referrals

Ask for alternative treatment plans -- including the costs, benefits, and risks of each

Also ask about the life expectancy of the work and their guarantees.

Ask to see before and after photos of the dentist's clients -- make sure the work is the dentist's own work, and be sure to ask how much tooth-reduction will be needed for the procedure you're interested in.
