I started using the acv toner (50/50 with water) At first it felt really good, and as it dried, it felt like my pores were opening up. Kinda tingly, in a very pleasant way.
Now, two days later, I have three massive zits. My question is, is the acv doing something bad to my skin and making it break out, or is it "purging" all the bad stuff, and in a week my skin will be fine? I know this happens with facials and microderm. It gets worse before it gets better, but this is totally freaking me out! I have worked so hard to not get the cystic zits, and I haven't gotten them in a year, only tiny pimples. Now I have very painful ones: on the side of my nose, on my upper cheek, and right underneath my lower lip and $#@% do they HURT!!!
HELP!!!! |

That's kind of weird, I never felt my pores 'opened' up with my ACV toner, if anything the opposite. I'm not too sure about the purging though I didn't go through that at all. Is the 50/50 mix not too drying for you? |

I am not a believer in it has to get worse before it gets better. But, I do agree everyone's skin reacts differently. ACV rinse on my hair dried up some scalp breakouts over night. Seriously, just dried them right up.
Unfortunately, since I have only had 3 or 4 cystic pimples in my life, I don't know what to suggest for those. Salicylic acid worked for me.
So, the only contribution I can make is discontinue the ACV and get those suckers healed. If you do decide to go back to the ACV toner (I probably would), make it very low concentration to start.
Now, the questions I should have asked first: Did you change anything in your diet or skincare routine besides the ACV? Or, could it just possibly be hormonal?

The 50/50 combination didn't irritate my skin at all. It actually reduced some of the redness on my cheeks. It made my skin so soft I don't even need moisturizer afterward, so no, not drying for me at all.
I haven't had any changes in my lifestyle...I still eat the same things, taking my vities as usual, and using the same thing on my face. Unforunately, salicylic acid makes me break out MORE (go figure) The only that's probably going to help me is just sticking with my Mama lotion. It's what kept those little cystic buggers at bay in the first place! Time heals all wounds, but unfortunately leaves scars...... |

At least the MaMa Lotion will help with those and, if you use rosehip seed oil as they heal, they shouldn't leave new scars.
Good luck

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps the ACV is too drying. Try reducing the concentration or adding aloe vera to it (Carekate's recommendation). |

Actually, the mama lotion only lightened my scars a tiny bit. Don't get me wrong, it is better than nothing! But it really has been wonderful for keeping my breakouts to a bare minimum. I just received the JB Green Apple peel. Will do a trial run with that tonight. Hopefully it will clear up this mess !! |

Well, I have stopped the ACV, and used the JB green apple peel last night. There is definately some improvement, my zits aren't nearly as big and inflamed, and one took care of itself, which usually takes about 5 days! I hope the peel will continue to work. I didn't experience any redness at all, and in fact, used the mama lotion right afterwards.
I know that sounds waaayyyyy too harsh, but it didn't bother my skin at all. In fact when I got the mama lotion, it said to use every other day, with sooo many reviews saying it burned and stung, with redness and peeling. I could use it daily from the beginning, no problem. Guess I just have strong skin? |
