Is a 10% LA exfoliant pH2 okay for daily use? Like the one by DY? Did you have to build up to it? |

I was using the Diana Yvonne 10% lactic acid some over the summer. My skin could not tolerate it daily--it was too irritating, although some of this was due to the fact that I was experimenting with mandelic acid at the same time. It was just too much for me. I have read of others, however, using this daily so it IS possible to build up to it. |

Yeah - that has been my experience too. I recently raised the pH with some triethanolamine from 1.9 to about 3 and I think it may be fine now for daily use. Im not sure yet though. I would think it will be okay, since I have used Paula's AHA lotion at 10% pH 3.2 before daily. I would prefer the lower pH for collagen production and was curious if thats a good possibility with time. |

The other variable, I guess, is how long you leave on the lactic acid. Let me know how it goes for you, Monica. Maybe I will try again when the weather is warmer. For now, I am really enjoying the CareKate aspirin mask and mandelic/salicylic acid as exfoliants.

I used to use it daily as a leave on product at night. It is perfectly ok to use it daily and will actually do a good job of turning over your skin and building collagen. If you are using other exfoliants or actives that irritate your skin then it may be too much. Otherwise you can build up a daily tolerance to it rather easily. In fact you may decide after a while that you want to go a little stronger. Greg |

Greg, thanks - I am also using Retin A at night. So I use the LA in the AM. I only started about two months ago with it, and I wake up with flakes which totally dissappear as soon as I use my LA. It also is deeply moisturizing on contact somehow. Im doing fine with the pH3 of my LA right now, and I make sure not to use too much. I will see if in time I can try the pH2 again. |
