So, recently I ordered some Silk Dust from Everyday Minerals. While I was there I noticed that they had some new foundation colors, so I figured as long as I was paying for shipping I might as well get some free samples too, so I chose 3 foundation colors, a blush, and a pinkish "brightening" concealer. Anyway, I'm more than please with the silk dust and will definitely re-order, but as for everything else--- I think I've proved to myself once and for all that I should just stick with Alima! For one thing, even though the foundation looked light enough for me in the jar, on my face it totally turned dark! The blush, just like the other 2 blushes from EDM I've tried looked totally garish (not suitable for fair skin!!!), and the concealer didn't brighten at all, it just looked like I had put blush around my eyes. So, thank goodness for Alima because besides the Silk Dust everything else at EDM is a terrible match for me! |

You are not alone, Manslayerliz...this happens to me all the time...I "think" it will be light enough...and it is not...that happened to me with the Bare Escentuals mineral powder makeup...the lightest shade is just too dark for my skin..I could have sworn that it would be OK - it "looked" so light..I've tried every mineral under the sun (including Avon!) trying to get a shade that is light enough for me...(sigh)...So don't fret - you're not the only one who does this - I think that sometimes everyone moves off the reliable beaten track ...it is good to try other things (as long as you don't go broke!)- I'll bet that while you've hit some "gongers" you've also found some real goodies along the way!

I used EDM for about 4 months until I found Alima. Thank goodness I did. My skin became an absolute WRECK using EDM, clogged pores, huge monster zits in places I had never broken out, and I am 38 was not used to looking like a teenager!! But Alima saved me and I'll never switch!! I do use the EDM silk dust though since it does not contain Mica, which is what I beleive caused all my problems, and this product I like, I switch off btwn this and the Jurlique rose dust. |

Thank goodness for Alima, right? In the several months I've been using it I haven't had any new skin problems--- that's just amazing to me! Like you, I alternate between EDM's Silk Dust and Jurlique's Rose Dust-- I like them both.^-^
Pudoodles, I fell into the SAME trap with BE--- it totally looked like enough in the jar (and the sales lady was soooo convinced it would be perfect for me--- "Well, this is as light as we go, so it HAS to work!" she said to me"), but once I put it on my face it looked orange, shimmery, and awful! |

The other day in Paris on the street, I saw an extremely gorgeous pale rocker chic with expertly applied eyeliner, wearing lots of black and electric blue, and i thought, that's what I assume manslayerliz must look like!

I had the same problems with EDM. Clogged pores and breakouts galore, and, their warm formulas turned orange on me. I can't even use their blush. To their credit, they have beautiful blush colors, a good range of products at good prices and yes, I like their silk dust too. |

Isn't it interesting how we see one another in our mind's eye? I have the same sort of image of Manslayerliz...I imagine avalange to be flirtatious with whispy hair and soft, feminine features - isn't that wierd? (am I correct?!) I thought Katee would look really tough - so you can imagine how I nearly fainted when I saw a pic of Katee: the ultra-feminine, long-haired, princess!!! |
