Hi, My hands seem esp. dry and irritated this winter. This is complicated by the fact that my hands are constantly being washed or being cleaned with chemical hand sanitizerzs. I work in the hopspital as pedi and special care nsy RN, so I also have to wear gloves alot. Does anyone have suggestion for hand lotion/cream that can hold up under these conditions? Thanks. |

I love the L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. There is a small size tube (1 oz., $9.00 U.S) which is great size to keep in your handbag during the day! |

Yet another vote for L'Occitane's shea butter hand cream! You only need a dab, and it lasts a long time. |

Yet another vote for L'occitane shea butter. I wash my hands multiples times a day and find this moisturizing and rich but not greasy. Another fav is Caudalie hand and nail cream. Love the orange and almond fragrance- an ideal pick me up. |

Candy's hand creams (candessence.com) are super.
Also another vote for l'Occitane. Clarins has nice hand cream. Gold Bond is probably the best value for money. |

Definitely L'Occitane. If you want smaller sizes for your purse, go on ebay and you can find the ones from the Delta Airlines amenity kits for sale. They take up less space in my purse. |

You might want to try adding some squalane to your regular hand cream to give it a boost. (Ice Elements is having a 50% off of squalane if interested - For a limited time, we are giving a 50% discount on our Squalane! When purchasing online with us you will simply type in s50 in the discount code box while in the Personal Profile and Shipping Information Page.)
Also try and avoid hand sanitizers and antibacterial soap when at home. Use something milder like a bar of Dove soap or a liquid soap without the antibacterial and with nice ingredients like shea butter and aloe. You can even add some olive oil to your liquid soap. It may hinder it from sudsing up but it will still clean your skin.
Another thing I saw that may work for you is Surgeon's Skin Secret moisturizing stick. I have not used it myself but it sounds really good and I have heard some good reviews of it. I think it may work especially well with you as I heard that you need only reapply it after 4 washes and it acts as a barrier so it may really help with all the harsh things that you use.
Here is one place that sells it:

Take care.

Damn, I gave my mum a large tube of L'Occitane Shea Butter for Xmas but I never bothered to try it. Must try it next time I go home.
Jurlique's hand cream stands up pretty well, though I prefer to slap it on as a night hand treatment rather than use during the day. Candy's is a nice, light non-greasy cream too, but not as heavy duty as Jurlique and probably the Shea Butter one. |

I tried L'Occitane Shea Butter - did not help. I tried many more, and found for me the best is - Candy's during the day and at night -Shikai Borage Dry Skin Therapy.

I love L'Occitane also.
I use The Body Shop almond hand rescue for a more intensive treatment - I wear it with cotton gloves if my hand are dry in the evenings. |

Ooooh, yes, I also have the Body Shop African Spa hand and foot cream and it is a DREAM so yummy-scrummy to use. I also use it for a shoulder massage as it has a nice consistency for that.
I buy those disposable plastic gloves (not surgeon type, just soft, clear plastic) and put those on under the white cotton gloves for an extra hand care boost at night!! |

Shea butter is a great choice. Just plain old pure shea butter. Trywww.gardenofwisdom.com. MUCH cheaper than L'Occitane. I use a combo of shea butter/mango butter/meadowfoam seed oil. I work in a small Trader Joe's full of freezers part-time. It's like working in 30 degree weather. Our hands crack and bleed. We use hand sanitizers constantly this time of year, because of the cootie-public. Shea butter saves me.
Also Kiss My Face has a shea butter lotion that is very nice.
Gold Bond contains jojoba esters, the most moisturizing thing available. Great stuff.
I have ordered jojoba esters from Garden of Wisdom to add to my own mix.
L'Occitane is way too expensive for me; I use up too much product! |

I love the Molton Brown hand lotions - they come in a huge bottle (300ml) and are moisturising without being at all greasy. They are not as thick as the L'Occitane shea butter cream though, so not sure how they would stand up to really dry and cracked skin. |

My most favourite hand cream is Crabtree & Evelyn Avocado cream. Great results and smells divine. I can't believe it's been discontinued in Australia! |
