I am a little confused as to what is a good skin care regime when on Retin A PM.
My skin is a bit on the dry side.
I have been using AHA - LA -with it in the AM but even though I have been trying to get used to it for two months now, it seems my skin is too irritated using both. I tried different pH but even at pH 3 it makes my skin irritated.
I feel I need an exfoliant to remove those flakes I get from retin A.
I use emu AM and PM as well as Cerave lotion (with ceramides and HA) and a good sunscreen Am as well.
If you are using Retin A, what is your skincare regime? |

I would suggest a gentle exfoliator; probably an enzyme based one like Cellcosmet's. It has enzymes and is also a manual exfoliator, but is very gentle.
If your skin is still that dry even when using emu oil, I think that you still need to be building up a tolerance to using Retin-A every night. I'd suggest pulling back to once every second or third night and for at least 3 weeks and then try increasing it. You may be able to do 3-4 nights in a row and then one off, if not every night.
When I was on Retin-A, I used a gentle cleanser and exfoliant (cellcosmet purifying gel and dual action exfoliantl) and my moisturizer was cellcosmet's ultra-vital; on nights when I needed more moisture, I'd use emu oil.
For myself, I cut back on the actives while on Retin-A; didn't want to over-do it.
Hope that helps. |

I use a RETIN A product at night (Tazorac). Because it can cause flakes and dryness I was told to not use any products that contain harse (acne) type cleansers. So I use a plain old wash cloth and cetaphil. It is gentle enough to not over dry my skin and the wash cloth serves as an exfol. cloth. Has been working perfectly for me since my DR prescribed the RX Tazorac in August. I have had 6 breakouts (small at that) since August and I was getting about 4 a day, little white heads to full blown zits. |

I have microfiber face cloths which I use when cleansing my face - maybe I dont NEED an exfoliant at all like yourself. I should try this - thanks |

I always recommend Jurlique's Face Wash Cream as the gentle exfoliator of my choice. I use it everyday and retinol product everyday with no negative reaction and my skin is always baby soft. |
