I hear this cleanser is great for acne-prone skin. I was wondering if there were any cleanser experts out there that could identify nasty ingredients (alcohols, fragrances, anything that is bad for your face skin barrier) in this cleanser?
Cleansing Gel:
Distilled water with traces of silver, Glutamate (olive), sodium sunflower seed amphoacete, sesamphoacetate (sesame), cocamidolpropyl betaine (coconut), hyaluronic acid solution, citric acid, hydroxy propyl guar (guar plant).
Its the formulation for this really neat company called Hylunia. Its used in a lot of spas, but you can't get it at stores (don't know why). |

Very weird. The sunfower oil and sesame and coconut oils are great for OCMs -- the "amphoacete" part threw me. I googled the names, expecting it to mean "water-soluble" ("amphibian" comes to mind). NO results on Google. How often does THAT occur?
If this is olive oil, sunflower seed oil. sesame oil, coconut oil, hyaluronic acid and guar gum -- it's fine and simple and has no sulfates or alcohols at all.
It's also very easy to make. May I ask how much they ask you to pay for this concoction? |

cocamidolpropyl betaine is a mild surfactant.
i am not familiar with all the ingredients containing acetates. I am not sure if they are gentle are not, but was able to find this page which has some with that ingredient and they are listed as gentle http://www.makeupalley.com/user/notepad/various/
I think decyl glucoside as a main ingredient is probably more gentle on the skin that cocamidolpropyl betaine. I actually make my own cleanser combining liquid kelp and decyl glucoside.

I think some of the ingredients are spelled incorrectly - hence no Google results. It looks like there are amphoacetates in this, which are gentle detergents. Purist Co. uses Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate - you can see it in their "ingredients we use" section. I don't know what just glutamate does. Maybe there are some words before the glutamate? Like Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate or something? |
