I went out yesterday to buy birthday presents for a couple of people & ended up with two new coats for myself.
So today I went out determined to buy birthday presents the good news is I got some the bad news is I now have a new pair of jeans.
I am trying so hard not to spend why am I so weak willed. I think the only solution is for me to be confined to the house & not have any internet access.
Anyone else as pathetic as me |

I can relate! My internet shopping tends to get out of control -- and it's not like I can just give up my computer. |

get rid of your credit cards, and pay with cash only, that way you can actually feel that Money is out of your pocket! |

I'm just as bad. I seem to be compulsive when it comes to shopping (working 5 minutes from a major mall doesn't help). I found that by getting rid of the credit cards and using a debit card is keeping me honest. |

I'm the same way. I'm trying SOOO hard this year to only buy what I really need and not just what I want, so I can get my credit card paid down. BUT it's so hard! I'm alittle bit better, but I still have a ways to go.
I like the idea of using cash when you can. I think with the debit and credit cards it's WAAAY too easy to overspend. Plus, I think it's safer these days to use cash ... no one stealing your pin and stuff like that. |

Hi lori - What you need now sister is a good rationalization. You are a mammal. Mammals shed their coats and grow new ones. Therefore, it's only NATURAL for you to buy a new coat or two, at compelling after-Christmas prices, in winter time. The fittest/warmest survive.
Seriously though, I can relate to the buyer's remorse you're feeling. When I spend too much, the bills sober me up and I behave for a while. |

So when my husband complains, all I have to do is look at him incredulously and say, "Hey, what's the problem! I'm a mammal!" |

OMG loopylori - you are not alone . I'm managing to pay it off at the end of the month but if I keep up at the pace I'm going I'm going to get myself into trouble..it is the friggin' handbag, shoe and boot purchases that are killing me...I took my mom to the doctor today and somehow managed to pick up an extremely groovy electric purple cross-body bad (like I really needed it...NOT!!!!)

I think it's hard to show self-restraint with shopping at this time of the year, since some of the after-Christmas sales are still very good in a lot of the stores. I hope you enjoy what you got! |

OMG that is so that it is worthy of being a tagline!
"its our ability to SHOP that separates us from the chimpanzees"
That and my other favorite "Once she was a lowly housemaid dressed in rags. Now she's got a fairy godmother, she's filthy rich, and she lives in a palace with her dreamboat husband.......It's further proof, that the right shoes CAN change your life!" |

Thanks, you all made me chuckle.
I did pay cash for the most part, which helps with the after christmas diet because I cannot afford to buy food this week.
Hubby & son were a bit shocked when I told them they needed to lose weight starting now.
The rest I used my debit card for.
I am not using credit cards anymore, I am paying them off. I have already finished one & I am determined that they will be paid off by the end of this year. Hopefully sooner, so I am doing lots of overtime towards this goal.
pudoodles,
your tale of going to the doctors & still buying something made me LMAO.
I shall also try to remember I'm a mammal & I'm not a chimpanzee.
Candy,
I took an adult with me when I got the jeans, she just encouraged me. I told her that's the last time I'm going out to play with her. |

go without wallet for couple times. After awhile, you will get bored with the item and never buy it. |

Now that's my problem exactly!
I happen to think that it;s a virtue to be a bargain-hunter. The only problem is that my husband just doesn't get the concept that you have spend money to save money! |

Debit card nickname = "DEBT card". (As in, an I-usually-end-up-losing-track-of-my-spending-so-after I-realize-my-money-is-gone-I-end-up-using-my-credit-card-to-pay-my-bills card).
My dad on spending: "Enough about how much you saved, how much did you spend?" |

....and I know. I'm not really here. Just killing time whilst something downloads |

That is so funny!! What kind of damage can you do when you actually go shopping? |
