Hello and HELP!
Never been a big perfume/fragrance wearer, til lately, I am so craving finding a scent for myself. I'm 43 yrs old- almost typed 40 haha. How overwhelming to find the "right" ones. I don't have rich taste, I like simple I suppose. For the most part I find body creams, solid perfumes etc smell better on me than regular perfumes/eau de toilets, maybe the alcohol?
So I'm asking any of you who like these scents...what else do you like that I might try too?
almond
coconuty
caramel
creamy/milky
clean scents but not too "sharp"
pear
fig
lavender- only at certain times- when painting, bath time, bedtime.
I think when spring arrives I'll be looking into mostly clean, fruity, fresh, maybe SLIGHTLY sweet. LOVE the smell of orange and ginger my mom wears in summer- but on me it just doesn't smell as good, maybe a different orange/or other cirtus. No verbena types- on me it smells yuck and makes me angry.
trying these now...
perlier white almond body cream, it does dry down to a powdery scent, but still has a tangy/bright something in there I find appealing.
fruits and passion solstis (just a SMALL spritz in the summer smells like fresh laundry drying in the sunshine on me) the body spray is mellower than the perfume, think I like it better.
Calgon pear and caramel- really cheap and disappears fast but REALLY like it for some reason- after the sharpness dies. would love to find it in a "smoother" longer lasting form.
liked aquolina pink sugar but became to sweet for me after a week or so. Still love it on occassion, wish someone ELSE around me would wear it so I can enjoy a whif sometimes, Hubby won't do this for me LOL.
Perlier lavender- wow strong stuff, only for diehard lavender lovers. I spritz once and walk through it to make sure it's not overwhelming. Usually wear it only at home just for me.
thinking of trying L'Occitane amande milk concentrate, and also the honey gentle water.
The body shop body butters- coconut, almond, passion fruit.
Bath and Body brown sugar and fig, and maybe the japanese cherry blossom.
geesh, I thought this would be a quick post!
Any takers? What fragrances are you wearing???

Allie Grace, it sounds like we have similar tastes. I LOVE caramel, honey, almond, creamy scents too!! Like you, I like Pink Sugar, but I can't wear it as it quickly overwhelms me--- nice if someone else wears it, though. LOL! Here are some scents that I like that you might like too:
Burt's Bees Baby Bee (Unfortunately they don't make a solid scent of this anymore, but the buttermilk lotion is a nice way to wear the scent, which is a really comforting honey-apricot-milky scent.)
L'Occitane's Honey Water (Lovely light honey scent)
Dessert Treats Butterscotch Toffee Body Spray (I know, I know, I didn't think I would like it either, but it smells like a combination of maple syrup and a caramel latte, yum!)
Carol's Daughter Almond Cookie (I haven't tried the body spray, just the lotion, but it's not too sweet and DH likes the smell of it too.)
And of course, I can't forget about my gal Candy! Candy's chocolate lotion is creamy and rich without being too sweet or too strong, and her solid lavender perfume, OMG, she uses this special, rare kind of lavender oil that is pure heaven!
Keep us updated! I know what it feels like to wade through hundreds of unsuitable scents.^-^ |

Oh yes, you definitely have to check out Candy's goodies at http://wwww.candessence.com - they smell divinely edible. I get loads of, "Ooooh, that's lovely! Can I eat it?" comments when I wear it.
Also, perfume-wise, you might like Comptoir Sud Pacifique. They have vanilla-gourmet-foody scents. |

boy, this is not a good thread for anyone trying to slim down- like me.
manslayerliz, thankyou for the response, we really do have similar taste:)
I have the bb lotion! I loved it this past summer, then tired of it, but still use the apricot baby oil. The scents are so comforting, love 'em. I saw your post on the powder and already planned to pick some up to try when I see it at the drugstore.
I'll definitely be trying the l'occitane honey, and carols cookies sound right up my alley. I was looking at "carols" something or another (a lotion I think) at one time, I think it's still on my sephora "list" actually.
I love candy's products, had my eye on the coco limited edition cream- snooze ya lose..she sold out. Okay, her lavender is on my list now...the stuff I have is soooo strong.
the "dessert treats", are those at drugstores?
thankyou thankyou !!!!
majorb, love Candy's products, especially the oatmeal cleanser and sugar scrub, I use them on my hands only because I want them to last forever.
CSP, I have seen these at sephora and drugstore.com. I wish they would sell small samples because I can never choose which one to try. I think the matlin calin might be good, but also would like to try a light floraly one too.
thankyou!

Hi again Allie! I think you'll love the BB powder-- it's a nice way to smell fresh without being overpowered!^-^ I'm also looking forward to hearing what you think of the honey water and almond cookie. As for Candy's scents, I totally wanted to try coco too, but like you said, you snooze, you lose!! I'm hoping she'll get some back in... Luckily, I was able to try the monoi Vanille before it sold out and it is DIVINE! If she gets any back in, I'd definitely recommend trying it. As for the Dessert Treats, actually, I think it might be discontinued--- but it's a great, unique fragrance, so I think it'd be worth it to take a whiff and maybe pick up a bottle anyway. I think you can still get it at most drugstores, otherwise there are a lot of people selling it for cheap on ebay. HTH! Please keep us updated! |

Speaking of Bath and Body - they have a Lavender/Vanilla body spray and lotion is lovely and soft. It's over in the dark blue bottle section. It's very relaxing and softly sexy and comforting if that makes sense. I love it...it kind of combines two scents you seem to like!
Maria
Had to add my all time favorite scent is Garden Botanika's Heart. It is so pretty - soft vanillish-floral - I have never gotten so many compliments on a scent as I do when I wear Heart. You can only get it online, but I can't ever be out of it! |

Oh, I thought of another one! Lush has this massage bar called "The Honeymooner" I think. I've never tried it, but it's been on my list for ages. Apparently a lot of the MUA girls wear it as a solid perfume, and it's supposed to have a really nice honey-toffee scent. |

well I have a headache this morning, a (too)sweet almond perfume mixed with a (too)dark coconut solid perfume seemed like a good idea a bit ago haha. I thought they might balance each other, I smell like german chocolate cake. Maybe some patchouli will balance it all out-kidding. God forbid I should throw away something that isn't working for me! All I want now is to smell clean.
Think I'll hit the drugstore "finds" first until funds allow for online purchasing of some of these scents you all mentioned. Definitely will be looking for Fresh Light Clean scents along with my "foody" scent cravings.
manslayerliz- honey water is on sale online:) also found the Lush- looks edible!
Maria- found the lavender vanilla and also the Heart and they are in my favs. Heart has great reviews at Make Up Alley. Garden Botanika is having a sale also btw.
now off to the shower with me LOL.
